How The War on Terrorism Affected America Rachael Snyder The United States is at war with terror and it has done a lot to change America. Not only are they in a war with a country, or with a specific terrorist association, but with terror. So theoretically, the U.S. is at war with every single terrorist and terrorist group around the world. Terrorism will always exist. There will always be radicals ready to commit acts of terrorism for whatever motive they may have. If the United States remains in this war on terror, then the war will never end. The cost of the war to date is over one trillion, four billion dollars. The total cost of the war in Iraq is around eight hundred and nine billion dollars and in Afghanistan it’s about six hundred billion. The amount of money put into this war is to help stop terrorism and all of the extreme terrorists and terrorist groups all around the world, not only just for the United States. Since the economy played a big role in this war and took a huge hit many people lost their jobs and got laid off due to the recession. This is another effect of the war and how it impacted America. With all of the people who lost their jobs, the unemployment rate went down drastically. It became very difficult for people to find jobs and even harder to these people to provide for themselves and their families. The economy crash and recession hit the United States very hard and the citizens of the states are still trying very hard to recover from it. It changed the way the people of the United States thought and also how they viewed not only the country as a whole, but also the whole world. This war has changed our country’s perspective on safety and how to protect our country. It has also changed how we look at the economy and how much we take for granted. Although, this war is not a good thing for our country it has helped us take in things that we would not have learned without the war. It has taught us how to look out for each other and our families and provide for a safer and sounder environment for us to live
