The Zodiac signs and constellations corresponding to them were first used as a marker to recognize the rotation and location of the Earth and for astrologers to point telescopes and create star charts. However, believers in astrology took the Zodiac to the next level. The zodiac, is it fact or fiction? Life is full of challenges, challenges that we often see as defining moments that make us who we are. But how much of those defining moments have to do with astrology and astronomy?
Telescopes really gave a huge boost to our development in discoveries about the solar system. As the telescopes allowed us to see what was going on out there. Telescopes helped us with some of the discoveries made about our galaxy. It helped us realise how far Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus and Neptune really were from the Sun. It turns out that they were in the order just presented to you.
Through reflection, the sun's light allows you to see what you see as the moon. We see phases because the moon itself rotates while traveling around the Earth at the same time. it just is Moon phases are the different forms the Moon takes in its appearance on earth. A full moon occurs when the moons surface reflects light towards Earth. A Waxing moon is when more of the light side of the moon can be seen each night.
Telescopes in Astronomy Sharla McNees University of Phoenix Astronomy SCI/151 Dr. Olade July 2, 2012 Telescopes in Astronomy Telescopes have changed the way people view the sky and are allowing scientist to find out more about other planets. This paper will cover how the telescope changed our view of the universe, designs of telescopes and about ground-based and space-based observatories. * How the telescope changed our view of the universe and our place in it * Telescopes opened our eyes to the universe by showing us that Earth is not the center of the universe. Telescopes also show the mountains and craters on the moon and telescopes have exposed characteristics and weather on the planets in our solar system and revealed new planets and asteroids. Telescopes were the first valid measurement of the speed of light (NASA, 2009).
Goals: The main goal of this mission was to gain a new kind of understanding about space by viewing it through infrared radiation. This telescope was created to gather information, using its infrared “eyes”, to make infrared observations of galaxies, stars, and planetary disks, brown dwarfs, super planets, galaxies and active galactic nuclei, the outer solar system, early stages of star formation and the origin of chemical elements. Its sensitive instruments allows scientist to look into cosmic regions that could not be seen with optical telescopes. Schematic of Spitzer Launch Vehicle: A Delta rocket was used to launch the Spitzer. Its is a new a
Consequently, the study of the birth, life, and death of stars is central to the field of astronomy. ] (Netting, 2011) We explore the complexity of the stars and what astronomers use to determine fundamentals of their temprature, speed , rotation, and composition.
These normally include Hydrogen and Helium with some compounds such as Ammonia and some Water. These parameters are largely responsible for the declassification of Pluto in August of 2006 following the discover of the Kuiper Belt and larger-than-Pluto sized objects within it at the relatively same distance from Sol. (NOVA Origins, 2007) In general, we measure Jovian planetary atmospheres based on what we could see. This is the same as what proto-astronomers used to do, purely basing information on visible cues. However, as technology advanced – we can visually see much more than they could ever dream of.
One would be Fire Resistant Material which is chemically treated fabric and is used by every single one of our Fire Departments. Another is the Wind Monitor, the wind monitor allows for making high resolution measurements for a wind profile and for meteorological studies and predictions. NASA also developed Solar Energy. Solar Energy is a clean and efficient power source coming from the sun. Forest management was influenced by NASA as well, they use satellites to scan, monitor, and map radiation reflected and emitted by
I believe that extraterrestrial life does exist. Stories of ancient aliens and astronauts visiting the Earth in the past are thought to be connected with the origins and development of human cultures, technologies and religions. Recorded history by civilizations say they saw beings and crafts coming down from the skies and believed that they were “Gods”. That is what these ancient civilizations thought, having no idea what these beings and crafts actually were. They did not know what else to call them, therefore they became “worshipped”, and religions were formed and created in worship of these “Gods”.
NASA technology also has been adapted for many non-aerospace uses by the private sector. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general. Perhaps more importantly, our exploration of space has taught us to view Earth, ourselves, and the universe in a new way. Every aircraft utilizes technology pioneered by NASA. New industries have been built on space technology, including personal computers, advanced medical equipment, communications satellites, weather forecasting and natural resource mapping.
