Teenagers Today Teenagers today are facing a lot more pressure compared than teenagers many years ago. They are often forced to study and learn as hard as they can in order to excel in their life and have a brighter future. Besides, teenagers today also need to excel in extra-curricular activities. This is very important because most of the universities nowadays look at the extra-curricular activities in which they excels. So teenagers today must play some sport, join some club, play musical instruments well and learn more languages.All these leads to teenage problems such as stress and depression, because they can barely have time for themselves. There are many factors that cause excessive stress and depression among the teenagers today. Firstly, parental pressure. Parents forced them to do well in their studies, and their extra-curricular activities in the same time. They are as busy as a bee and rarely have enough time to relax and relief stress. Sometimes, teenagers feel like commiting suicide when they are not being able to meet their parents expectations. Secondly, peers pressure. Friends is really important in teenagers life. But if the friend are those who come from “elite” backgrounds and are very intelligent, some teenagers will feel jealous to their own friend. “Why I can’t be like him/her?” “Why I am not born intelligent and rich like them?” They often ask themselves this types of questions. They will start comparing themselves with their friends who seems perfect in their eyes. This may cause depression among teens. Lastly, constant comparisons. Most teenager’s parents like to compare their child’s last year grades and this year grades. They also often compare their child with their elder siblings that excels in their studies.
