The Causes and Solution of Adolescent Violence in America Abstract Adolescent violence is a serious problem in America today. This paper will show how our culture has created this disaster itself. Society promotes violence and brutality through the false philosophies of evolution and abortion. Destructive media centered on hate, disrespect, and murder influences young people every day. Many teenagers submerge themselves in this violent culture and lack godly role models to follow. Inter-parental violence, child abuse, and instability in the home are also predominant aspects in this crisis. This paper will disclose the problems causing this violence and show how current programs are making progress. It will also offer a biblical solution to this violence problem and prove how following God’s plan will have the most effective results. The Cause and Solution to Adolescent Violence in America School shootings, internet bullying, suicides, date rape, and gang violence all produce images of the crisis facing many adolescents today. Every year thousands of American teenagers are victims of bullying, harassment, and even murder. Worse yet, are the numerous teenagers who are bullying, harassing, and killing their peers. Homicide is the second leading cause of death among adolescents, followed by suicide (Puzzanchera, 2010). Although society claims a variety of reasons for this overwhelming violence, this paper will focus on the primary causes beginning with the home. Violence permeates the American culture leaving the greatest impact on adolescents. “Violence is the exertion of physical force so as to injure or abuse; intense, turbulent, furious, and often destructive action or force” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary, 2010).
