If marijuana is legalized, people should have the freedom to smoke it where and when they want, also as much as they want. People would have the right to say yes or no to this drug. Adults should have the right to tell their children yes or no to smoking this drug. To a certain age they should have the right because they can not control there children’s lives forever. People say “Students who smoke marijuana tend to get lower grades and are more likely to drop out of school”.
Lung cancer, bronchitis, and heart diseases are all effects of smoking tobacco. Smoking tobacco can also cause changes in mood and rotting of the teeth. These effects are especially bad the younger the smoker, as it can very easily stunt or damage children’s development. Use of tobacco by teenagers is increasing each year. As stated by The American Lung Association, nearly 6,000 children under the age 18 start smoking, and about 2,000 will become regular smokers.
Smoking in public places also endangers people who have respiratory ailments (ground). Recent studies show that almost (qualifier) 80% of those who ingest secondhand smoke from public smokers have a higher risk of getting respiratory problems than smokers themselves (data). Banning an act that causes problems to innocent civilians is helpful in many ways (warrant). If smoking in public places is banned, we actually reduce or totally eradicate the danger of putting non-smokers at risk of developing lung and heart problems (backing statement). Moreover, if we ban smoking in public places, we also stop the smokers from further increasing their chances of acquiring health problems for themselves (backing statement).
If I were to succumb myself to the conformity of the group, I would probably be smoking now. Yet, I didn’t. The pressure exerted by a higher authority as well as my own conscience simply led me to decline the cigarette and walks away; making it one of the best decisions of my
When I have kids, I will teach them about the use of tobacco as well as other drugs, so they are more aware of what not to do. It’s sad that I learned what not to do from my parents, because we look up to them. It can be funny how something so small can be such a big medical
Marijuana: Will you let this pass? Have you ever thought about smoking marijuana? Do you know the facts, and risks? In the article “Just Say No,” by Patrick Shaw, smoking marijuana is said to increase chances of lung cancer, disturb safety by causing dangers such as stoned driving, and also cause short term memory loss. Yet I believe that this book, “The Chocolate War” by Robert Cormier, should be kept in schools to be read by teenagers. Many people believe that this book should be banned for the fact that it talks about bullying and violence. In a couple parts of the story, Jerry is beaten up. There are also multiple parts where the Vigils or Janza bully a kid. But that isn’t so bad that we should ban it.
These people have stomas and now have a huge hole in their throat. This commercial is targeting smokers and potential smokers as well. This is made clear by looking at their website where the CDC states, “The Tips from Former Smokers campaign features real people suffering as a result of smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke. Maybe "marijuana recovery" should stop being hoisted as propaganda, and should be a service for those few who truly need it. How many alcoholics would go to AA if Prohibition was still in effect? There is a lot of propaganda out there about pot, and all I'm asking for those reading this is to give the argument for (and against) legalization a fair shake, and to not let beliefs founded on propaganda, someone else's moral standards, or beliefs unfounded in fact to sway you. Look at the arguments and decide for yourself. There are plenty of individuals who don't smoke marijuana (or don't smoke it anymore) and still think it should be legalized, so let the facts help you make your decision, not the propaganda.
