Technology in the Future: Will Super Computers and Artificial Intelligence be Benevolent or Malevolent? People living today are witnessing the dawn of the technological revolution. Innovation is moving faster than ever, driven on by the advances of computers. As a result of this rapid change, people are afraid; humans fear change. Many fear that if we create artificial intelligence, and give it a physical body in the form of robots, that it will ultimately rebel and wage war against humanity. However, this is a fatalistic viewpoint created by our limited human brains. Moreover, super computers will be able to solve problems in ways humans cannot imagine. Rather than causing the destruction or extinction of the human race, super intelligent computers will assist humanity in our evolution, helping us to solve the problems of today with the technology of tomorrow. One of our main fears is that mankind will use robotic technologies for military purposes. In contrast, there are many applications of robotics which are beneficial. Robotic technology is increasingly used in the medicine; in search and rescue; to do dangerous jobs, such as defusing bombs, and performing mining operations; also robotics are used for the exploration of areas of caves and the ocean which are inaccessible to humans otherwise. Furthermore, robots that mimic human appearance, speech patterns and social ability are being developed. In the future robots might look exactly like us. Can you imagine robotic teachers, robotic police, robotic fire fighters and robotic doctors? All of which would appear to be human. Another aspect of technology that people are concerned about is the development of artificial intelligence (A.I). People imagine that robots will eventually be autonomous, and that they will start a war with us. However, super intelligence will not have a race, a nationality, or a
