Many have discussed and debated regarding the pros and cons of technology. Technology, known as the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, is believed that without it, we humans will live our daily lives fill with difficulties and inconveniences due to the limits of our physical abilities. From day to day, our world has been changed gradually from one condition to another. New ideas always come up to the minds of people to these overcome human’s boundaries. On the contrary, we often neglect the harms brought by technology, and betweentimes, causes severe threat to human lives. I have to agree that these technology has brought more harm than good. Nowadays, technology has advanced in tremendous leaps and bounds. With technology, many inventions are introduced to us, basic ones such as computers, televisions, microwave ovens, and so on, and also more complex ones such as internet, satellites, spectrometer and whatnot. Technology has no doubt affected every aspect of our lives but we somehow tend to misuse it and fail to understand the environmental hazard technology has brought along with its benefits.…show more content…
Many nuclear power plant accidents happened since nuclear was introduced to mankind. One of the worst nuclear accidents to date was the Chernobyl disaster which occurred in 1986 in Ukraine. That accident killed 56 people directly, as well as damaging approximately 7 billion US dollar of property. A study published in 2005 estimates that there will eventually be up to 4,000 additional cancer deaths related to the accident among those exposed to significant radiation levels. Radioactive fallout from the accident was concentrated in areas of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia.
