Technological Advancements and Communication in Today’s Organizations The age of electronics, and more specifically, computers, has caused a tremendous paradigm shift in the way we communicate in organizations today. Effective communication is imperative for an organization to become successful and maintain its success in today’s fast paced business oriented world. The advancement of many means of communication has allowed for communication within organizations to be better than it ever has been before and has allowed organizations to diminish time constraints previous brought on by old fashioned methods of communication. Advances in technology over the past twenty-five years have not only improved communication within organizations, but also improved communication with organizational clientele and consumers. Technology has been an enhancement towards the communication of organizations in many aspects; however, it must be utilized appropriately to ensure that messages being communicated are sent and received in the way meant and that the informality of some uses of technology does not impair the validity of the information being conveyed. Two main points must be acknowledged to successfully utilize the advanced methods of today’s communicative technology: knowledge of the types of communication available and the appropriateness of when to use them and the acknowledgement of younger generation workers being so technically savvy that the company stands to lose productivity over the available technology due to personal usage.
