Techniques Obama Uses In His Victory Speech

In Obama victory speech he uses a range of techniques to get the audiences attension and to reasure them that he will a good leader and help to change the country for the better. In the first paragraph Obama repeates phrases such as “who still..” and uses a technique called ascending tricolon. This is where he askes three questions and states that he is going to answer them throughout the speech. as the phrase is repeated three times it sticks in your head and by asking a rhetorical question I think it males the audience mre involved. He keeps repeating from the very beginning “we” suggesting that the whole of the USA are a team and he is going to renuite them and bring everybdy together. He refers to American history, and states that the nation have been through good times and many bad ne too, but have always got through them. He uses the wall steet crash as an example. Obama tells the audience that it doesnt matter who you are, and lists some opposits eg. “rich or poor”, “black or white”, showing that everyone in America is equal and treated the same! He uses metaphors to reasure that he will make changes for the better for the country. At the end of several paragraphs he repeats the phrase "yes we can". This is very effective because it refers to the country as "we", not just saying that he will rule the country but everybdy who is apart f it can make a difference. This element/slogan deffinately makes the speech memorable and that may be why the speech is so famous. He uses person anacdote of 106 year old woman to relate to the audience the short story tells Americans hw much a woman of 106 years of age has seen America change throughout the past century but is still wanted for vote for more change. He relates to family; his wife and children in the speech to show that he is a family man, loving and caring. Obama tries to relate to the widely varied audience
