Case study 6 TEAM-BUILDING RETREATS Summary From the answers of the questions discussed above it can be summarized that according to question 1 team building increases productivity because it gives people a wide range of experiences that are crucial to team building. In the second answer we saw that apart from training retreats there are other ways of increasing effectiveness of team and increase teamwork among company employees, this is mainly achieved through improvement in communication. Question 3 illustrated that there are allot of non-physical team building activities that a company can pursue that do not require allot of physical activities when a company feels that their employees are not comfortable with physical activities. Finally the fourth question elaborated that modern technology is strong enough to allow teams to form and work together without meeting, but it is only applicable on limited situations. INTRODUCTION According to the Business Dictionary the definition of team building is: * Philosophy of job design in which employees are viewed as members of interdependent teams instead of as individual workers. * Ability to identify and motivate individual employees to form a team that stays together, works together, and achieves together. Therefore it can be summarized that team building is the process and activities conducted by organizations that bring individual workers together in order to perform as a team. There are many types of different team building activities it is up to the company to decide what activities best suit their employees. Team Building activities can be categorized into two areas, internal team building activities and external team building activities.
