I believe that each child is a unique individual and that all children can learn. Children will be encouraged to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences where all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment. Educating young children has always been an exciting career for me. I take much proud in my career being a good educator isn’t just about teaching children skill concepts, it also involve communicating and understanding the background of their family. I chose to do my research topic on The Role Head Start plays in the life of the community, families, and children education.
Teuila Seumanutafa TASK ONE: Explain the value of play and exploration. The purpose of this task is to explain the value of children’s play and exploration. In doing this it helps us define what we think the value of children’s play is, and what others think the value of play is. “Just by watching young children it is easy to see that play is often stimulation and rewarding, and that they get a great deal of emotional satisfaction from playing” (Sheidan, 1999). As a mother and teacher I have always been fascinated with how children learn.
Observing children was very interesting experience. It was important to understand how different children view concepts than adult. I observed a Pre-K class in la petite academy on July 02, 2010 and that observation was rewarding experience because I could see different behavior and reaction of children and how each person reacts differently to certain behaviors. According to Eggen and Kauchak, “students get a feeling about whether or not their classroom is a desirable place to learn.” Children were safe and secured this was shown by their way to express themselves and self-esteem. A strong sense of attachment and belonging was shown in that Pre-K class between the teacher Miss Samantha and her children.

Thanks to their dedication, I have now been inspired to further my education and become a teacher myself. I obviously grew up being in the classroom taught by teachers but since my mom is a speech language pathologist I have also seen school from the teacher’s perspective. For as long as I can remember, I have loved helping her in her classroom. From coloring to lesson plans, I enjoy it all.
Finally, during the preschool years, many children become quite independent and social interacting with the world around them through games and play activities. This is the stage of moving from minute activities to preparing for a solid foundation in all areas of development preparing to interact out of the home. Being a teacher in a classroom, I understand the significant impacts that play enhance preschool children’s growth and development through empowerment, self- help skills, and pro social behavior. As a center, we provide opportunities for preschoolers to exercise their ability to function in a school community efficiently and independently. This includes interacting both inside and outside with their peer and their teachers.
I have chosen this area of research because it is an area of great interest to me and I am genuinely motivated to explore the possible contributing factors which may explain the reasons for such different abilities and styles amongst such young children. Having worked within a foundation stage setting for considerable years it has always amazed me how different each child is upon starting their learning journey and what impact early exposure and experience in writing can have on their future progress. I feel that my research will prove beneficial to me and the children in the reception and year 1 class in which I work. It could be significant to my contribution to providing and supporting literacy development in the early years class. From my own experience I have noticed over many years that it appears some children are starting school with little or no hand writing experience at all, even basic mark making skills and holding a pencil correctly have not been offered to some children.
Learning should be fun and interesting at the same time. When you have the children’s attention they will absorb so much more when they are actively involved in the learning proses. The end product of what the lesson was about will still be the same and as equally as important. We need to give the children every opportunity to learn and grow from the experience of learning. They will learn much more about themselves, their strengths and their weaknesses in
The Meddling Co-Worker When I was offered a job as an Extended Day Assistant at age eighteen, I was beyond excited. I would get to be creative, meet new people, and best of all, work for a school that was very well known within the community. This would be my first time being around young children in a Montessori environment, and I was eager about beginning my new journey. Everyone was really nice and welcoming, and I felt lucky to have been given this opportunity. The enthusiasm I felt would soon change into misery following my encounter with a teacher whom I had not met.
Volunteering in the classroom is another way the parent can be involved with their children. A lot of the teacher are grateful for the help in the classroom and welcome the parents who can help out with things like reading to the students and special projects. Being present in your child classroom you allow your child to know how important their education is you and for them. With all the availability of early childhood education across the world, we do not need to question the reason why early childhood education is important. We can see that the benefits are greater than the
