Tattoos Are Not a Good Idea

Tattoos are becoming so popular these days that it is really hard to go to anyplace and not find somebody with at least one tattoo. People of all ages and statuses are thinking on the possibility of inking their skin with at least one tattoo, and young people feel extra social pressure because they want to be “in.” Although more people are getting tattoos these days and tattoos shops are cleaner than in the past, people should not get tattoos because people with tattoos are still seen negatively in our society, especially among some employers, and there are health risks like hepatitis B and C and other infections related with tattoos. Even though tattoos are common these days, some people still have negative views of other people with tattoos because they continue linking tattoos with bikers, sailors, gang members, and, in general, with low class people. This is more usual when you see a person with tattoos that have negative connotations, like skulls and swastikas, or a person with lots of tattoos. Also, tattoos are seen in a negative way because they look unprofessional, so some corporations will hold strict policies against visible tattoos, especially if they need to have a good public image. Other employers that do not like tattoos will not hire somebody just because that person has tattoos. They will not mention that tattoos are the reason to not hire somebody because they do not want to be sued for discrimination, but some employers have anonymously admitted that they will not employ a person with tattoos because that can damage their public image. Besides having a negative image, tattoos are a health risk. Tattoo dyes, particularly color inks, can cause allergic reactions, even several years after the tattoo was applied.
