[18] 12. Young girls should not receive mandatory vaccination for HPV (human papilloma virus). The vaccine was approved in 2006 and the long-term effects are unknown. Since approval, adverse side effects such as severe allergic reactions, Guillain-Barré syndrome, spinal cord inflammation and pancreatitis have been reported to the US Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System. Although these adverse reactions may be rare, they are not worth the risk since the vaccine only protects against two of the 15 strains of HPV that may cause cancer of the cervix (20-40 years after an individual is infected).
Should Children be vaccinated on the Governments Schedule or Their Parents Schedule? Abstract To vaccinate or not to vaccinate that is becoming the question in our country today. More specifically whether to vaccinate children when the government says we should or to do it when we feel our children are ready. Many parents are choosing to vaccinate their children on what is referred to as an “Alternate Schedule”, which is a different schedule than what is recommended by the government and this is causing some concerns about the effectiveness of this practice. Should Children be vaccinated on the Government’s Schedule or Their Parent’s Schedule?
These two are mumps and rubella. Combining three vaccines into one will eliminate the time it takes for parents to visit clinics for the vaccines as well the needle sticks or inconvenience and pain of the injections. Many parents object to immunization for rare childhood diseases of which measles is included. I think a lot of this resentment of vaccinations have to do with lack of education. The first dose of the measles vaccine must be given at the beginning of the first year and continue till the child is six years old.
Garrett 1 Sarah Garrett English 111, LO2 Instructor Morris 9 March 2015 Breast Milk vs Formula The decision to breastfeed or bottle feed a newborn baby, can be a very controversial subject. Many factors can alter the decision to breastfeed or bottle feed. The choice of breastfeeding is very personal, and varies on factors of the mother’s life and personal preference. Sometimes a mother is not able to breastfeed because of certain health conditions or medications that she may take. Sometimes a mother’s work schedule is not conducive to breastfeeding, therefore she must bottle feed her infant.
What if the baby had a small defect that the doctors proclaimed could not be treated and cured, but you had the child anyway. The child had a rough few years, but they end up finding a cure in the future and your child has a chance to live a normal life. How could that doctor have known when you were pregnant if your child would have a chance? Can he or she predict the future? There are so many questions to consider but you have to endure both sides of this argument.
I asked him one day, “Have you been vaccinated?” He replied, “Yes.” I then asked him, “Do you have poison in your body then?” He didn’t answer my question. I then said to him, “You are endangering your child by not giving him vaccinations. I understand you feel you are protecting him, but you are not. If your child comes in contact with someone who has a fatal disease and your son does not have the proper immune system to fight it, his life
Ashley Hoover Instructor Kendy Writing 121 February 7th 2013 Childhood Immunizations: preventing widespread diseases Valerie rushed her four-year-old son Jacob into the emergency room; something wasn't right. Test results came back positive for a severe case of the measles; he was immediately admitted to the hospital and put in isolation. Valerie didn't understand how her son could have caught the disease, then she remembered years back when Jacob was one, she had signed a application exempting him from a set of childhood vaccinations. Looking back Valerie could have avoided her situation had she been better informed on the possible consequences. More information and better education on the issue could have saved her son and other
The parents need to realize that a disability is not a death sentence. As stated above, many times a disabled child has just as much an impact on a family as child prodigy and a family may also come to love this child as deeply as they would if they were a “normal” child. Genetic counselors should only be held legally responsible for a regretted decision if the parents felt like they were being persuaded into that decision. Genetic counselors should only give the parents information, both negative and positive, about the disability and nothing more. The counselors should not refer the couple to a hospital that could possibly terminate the fetus nor should they refer them to a facility that will care for the disabled fetus when he/she is born.
Shanna L. Cannoy Professor Sarah Lupinacci English 102 26 July 2011 The Effective Use of Medication is Needed for Controlling ADHD Symptoms in Children When parents have children with a health issue such as diabetes medication is sometimes necessary to control the disease. While ADHD is a mentally debilitating disorder, many people including some parents of their own children, with ADHD, will not help their child by the use of medication. It is a parent’s job to do everything possible to ensure their child’s ability to succeed with their best interest in mind. Why would a parent deny their children a sufficient way to survive better socially, academically, and emotionally when the option is present to help them do so? Robert Findling says it best with his question ‘‘Why would you want to let a child suffer unnecessarily?’’ ( qtd.
Dr Mitch Spero, a practitioner at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Holly wood and the director of Child & Family Psychologists, is quoted in this text insisting “When the kids bring the medication to school, they’ll offer it to a friend without realizing that if someone does have a cardiac disorder, it can lead to serious health problems.” In making this comment, Joe DiMaggio is saying that if students without ADHD took medication like Adderall can be very dangerous because they might have underlying cardiac, and are not aware of. Those students with the prescription and bring these ADHD medication to school, they cannot be stop but for those students who don’t have ADHD should be more concern about their health, and are aware of the consequences to prevent themselves from worst diseases and even
