Everybody wants to spice up their looks with a great natural glow. Tan completes outfits and adds somewhat exotic hint to your appearance. It looks harmless and it seems like tanning only benefits your skin, but as you look deeper into the process, huge issues are starting to rise. Although for general society golden tan is an indicator of healthy skin, health professionals disagree. In professionals’ eyes tan is considered a skin damage that causes premature aging of the skin, links directly to skin cancer, and puts addicted youth in danger.
During menopause there are many changes that will take place. The risk of having a heart attack will increase because of the reduction of oestrogen. Periods will gradually become far apart and become lighter and not last very long. Hot flushes are mostly common and experienced by women during this period of time. Hot flushes occur within 4-5 times a day.
Describe the healing process of a grade 3 decubitus ulcer. Discuss how aging may affect the process of healing. Decubitus ulcers are also known as pressure sores or bedsores, and can be difficult to define. The most accurate definition of a decubitus ulcer is the “breakdown of skin, usually over a bony prominence, due to compromised blood flow caused by pressure” (National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, 1989). Decubitus ulcers are a common condition affecting the elderly as aging, the process of getting old, causes the skin to change dramatically (Landi et al, 2007).
Persuasive Researched Essay Assignment Samantha Landers Communication Essentials-34(COMM1016-13W-20915) Professor Robin Parkes Monday, April 01, 2013 Research Essay The popularity of tanning salons around the world continue to grow, despite overwhelming evidence linking the use of tanning beds to very serious illnesses, including deadly skin cancers. One would think given the choice between the possibility of dying or looking good would be a no brainer decision, yet when people are given the opportunity to exercise their freedom of choice; people choose vanity over death time and time again. It is this inability or unwillingness to make the right choice to protect themselves or loved ones from the dangers of tanning beds, that forces the government and health officials to take the next step. The urgency for a total ban on the use of tanning beds is obvious; tanning beds are a hazard to public health, public safety and awareness surrounding the use of tanning beds are at risk given the difficulty involved with the enforcement of existing regulations and bans and lastly, although the choice to use tanning beds maybe individual the consequences of these choices impact all of society. The dangers and risks associated with the use of tanning beds far outweigh the benefits, which reinforce the need for a total ban of tanning beds.
When the lungs start to shrible up it makes the smoker not to be able to walk long distances or be in the cold because they cannot breathe properly. The inside of the body begins to look nasty and dark, and it begins to stop making other organs work properly. There are many risks when you are smoking besides problems and diseases. When a woman is pregnant she can harm the baby in many ways. It can cause the baby to have fetal brain damage, premature birth, and even death.
In my opinion, a disease that can be controlled by just keeping yourself healthy, should not be a leading cause of death. Unfortunately, cancer is becoming more common in the United states. According to cancer.gov, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer with about 235,000 new cases expected in the United states in 2014. This is shocking to me that in just one year, that many cases of just one type of cancer can be found. Chronic lower respiratory diseases are the third leading causes of death.
The Tanning-Advisor a prominent Internet source states that, “UVB rays are more harmful than UVA rays. The UVB rays can cause burns, cancer, and damage to the immune system. Tanning beds that give off UVA rays are less harmful because the rays penetrate the deeper layers of skin, so it does not cause damage to the top layers of skin”(“All About Tanning Beds”). My friend Madison thinks that she gets the best tan when she doesn’t wear tanning lotion. I think this is a number one no, no.

(Weinstein, B. E. (2003). Sensorineural hearing loss is the hearing loss experienced by older adults that result from atrophic changes within the sensory and neural systems. This is associated with a loss of ability to hear sound and speech clearly. In addition to this there are other factors that can aide in hearing loss associated with age, these include: exposure to loud noises, genetic factors, trauma, vascular disease, infections and ingestion of agents that have an ototoxic effect such as dieuritcs or chemotherapy drugs. Untreated hearing loss can have significant consequences.
Rebuttal to Negative Effects of Tanning Beds Many people see individuals who use the tanning bed too much and think that tanning indoors is bad for them when in reality there are many benefits to indoor tanning. This is a controversial topic because many believe that melanoma cancer is directly related to indoor tanning. The author of the article I found online believes this too and while they tried to make a compelling case it just does not hold up to the facts that I have found myself that indoor tanning does have benefits. The article that I located about the negative effects of tanning beds on livestrong.com explains that excessive exposure [of tanning beds] can lead to problems such as skin cancer, eye cancer, and that they are considered unsafe by organizations such as the U.S Food & Drug Administration and American Academy of Dermatology (Welton, 2011, Skin Cancer). In response to this, it is fact that the U.S Food and Drug Administration does regulate the indoor tanning industry so it does stay safe for individuals to use (Welton, 2011).
