The movie También La Lluvia, translated to Even The Rain, is about two men, Sebastian and Costa, that come to Bolivia to film a movie reenacting Christopher Columbus’ arrival to the new world. While waiting in line for auditions for the film, Daniel, a poor native of Bolivia, gets angered when the producers tell everyone else to go home. The producers see him as a perfect fit for the main role of the indigenous people in the film. After a couple days of productive filming, Costa worries that Daniel’s involvement in the water protests in Bolivia will jeopardize finishing the movie, so he tries bribing Daniel with money to stop being in the protests for the safety of the film. However, Daniel continues to involve himself in the protest and even riots which causes him to be brutally beaten and sent to jail. Again, Costa uses money to bribe the Chief of the Police Department to let Daniel out so that they can finish the film. The crew films the crucial scene and the police come to take him back into custody. The extra people playing the indigenous people help Daniel escape and run away. With the riots getting more violent and closer, the crew decides to move to safety. However, Daniel’s wife, Teresa, pleads for Costa to help get his injured daughter to the hospital. After a couple serious moments, Costa successfully takes Belén, Daniel’s daughter, to the hospital. He then meets with Daniel for the first time after he ran away, and there, Daniel thanks him mucho for saving his daughter’s life. To show his thanks, Daniel gives Costa a gift that consists of a small container of water. Though there are many themes in this movie, savagery, greed, and oppression stand out in this movie. Savagery is shown through the riots and the police killing the innocent people. Costa’s corruption is seen by him trying to employ cheap extras for the movie and to bribe not only the Chief
