No one person can be up to date on all current events, and yet people, especially politicians and others in positions of power, are expected to have an opinion on all of their country’s goings-on. When put on the spot, people will make assertions that loosely support their opinions and may or may not be truthful. People may take a bullshitter’s words at face value at proceed to spread the misinformation to others. People who incorrectly believe they are well informed will then make decisions based on their "knowledge". What makes BS so problematic now is that it is so common.
In short, Americans have exchanged the rule of law for the rule of judges. “Without any Constitutional mandate, judges have banned the public recognition of God, redefined marriage, undermined national sovereignty, released a flood of pornography, institutionalized feminist dogma, interfered with elections, and handicapped law enforcement” (Schlafly, 2004). Judicial Tyranny, the New Kings of America, by Mark Sutherland exposes the tyrannical behavior of judges. The book is written to address the general public particularly voters who can influence who is selected for available seats on the Supreme Court. The purpose of the book is to advise the American public on the ongoing struggle with the outwitting Judiciary.
Right to know criteria for excellence in research. (Correct) This right is a little more difficult to define. Because “excellence” has both objective and subjective criteria, personal preference may keep the list of criteria from being as specific as we would like. However, those who are doing evaluations should work to make the criteria as specific and clear as possible so people can make choices about how to shape their own work. Right for key people to be protected so that work is done effectively.
He also shows that the people cannot know what is good for them in the long run and will only chose politicians and laws that seem a good idea at the time, without considering the consequences. Plato also illustrates this flaw in politicians and the people in simile of the powerful beast. He describes the
Document 3 also shows the dark side of the Electoral College. It shows that bribery from the candidates to the electors could be used to secure their votes. This obvious corruption alters the system to a point where the voters may as well not have even voted. Since their votes are almost completely disregarded, it is almost as though they did not even vote in the first place. Document 7 talks about unnecessary use of military force on the nation’s own citizens.
Mayhew makes several arguments concerning the positives and negatives of our divided government. He points out that divided government seems to have little effect on the outcome of policy making, but many critics spoke out, saying that our divided government is actually the root of governmental gridlock. Because our government is divided into different political groups, mainly republican and democratic, there are many different opinions and ideas. The two parties often fight back and forth about what they think is best for our nation, leaving them in a gridlock with both sides refusing to budge. We have this exact problem today, because our government is currently shut down.
These can be describe as government failure, in many different causes. Today we will be uncovering one of the most controversial of all. How politicians and administrating bodies acting in ‘Self Interest rather than interest of the general public that they are suppose to represent. As a result of this infixions policies may arise causing
Does it often seem that many American politicians and pundits are talking past each other? That is because they really are. The frustrating nature of public debate arises in large part from the fact that Americans do not share a single worldview. A worldview is a more or less coherent understanding of the nature of reality, which permits its holders to interpret new information in light of their preconceptions. Clashes among worldviews cannot be ended by a simple appeal to facts.
That man left to his institutions and placing himself above the will of the people, will surely lead to tyranny. Burke could very well (in my opinion) be talking to the politicians of today when he said he would sound wild and chimerical or that he was not in touch with reality, but that it was them the members of parliament that were “the profane herd of those vulgar and mechanical politicians” (Burke, 1775, Speech on reconciliation with America pg 2), that they have no place among the common people grappling with everyday reality in our pursuit of happiness. I was shocked that Burke would take this stance, given the animosity felt by parliament, the once thought to be friends of the American cause “the merchants of England” and the crown (grossly misinformed). I was pleasantly surprised at his ability to put the situation on a higher plain then just a gripe by the Americans don’t want to be taxed and pay their fair share, but to bring into the English mind that maybe they have lost touch with what previous generations or ancestors had accomplished in the English constitution, and putting the financial woes of the country aside and personal feelings about the Americans aside, that there might be a better way to conciliation with the
It doesn’t seem like the government is doing much to fix the situation. They make a lot of promises they can’t keep. The government is made up of mostly wealthy Americans who can’t relate to the troubles that face average people. The problem is nationwide. There are so many people out of work and struggling to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table and it’s difficult to hear about these wealthy executives
