SYNOPSIS OF GOOGLE’S ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE A company’s organizational culture plays an important role in its success. A company’s culture helps it to attract the best talent available in the industry. The case discusses the organizational culture at Google Inc, which is one of the most successful Internet start-up companies. The founders of Google are Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google was one of the few companies that successfully blended technological innovation with strong organizational culture. The case provides insight into the work environment, recruitment process at Google. The roles of manager have been changed because of new waving management thinking. Instead of giving commands and keeping employees under control; sharing information, trusting managers, being concentrated on the company’s goals are being preferred in the concept of empowerment. It’s very different and untraditional organizational culture can attract most talented engineers in IT industry. Everyone was not impressed by Google’s culture as some felt that Google has outgrown its informal culture, and this will lead to confusion among both employees and customers. Google was also criticized for its recruitment system and its lack of unity of command at the top level.
