INTRODUCTION At the lecture session on Thursday, 27 September, 2012, Our course instructor of Strategic marketing management “Mr. Shafqatullah” assigned us to submit a report on the strengths and weaknesses of any company where one of our group members have access to the information of the company. Therefore, we chose Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO). The purpose of this report is to examine the internal factors and its analysis by which we will learn about the problems which a company has to face internally. Thus, it will make us aware about the situations which we will have to face in future as a manager or even as an entrepreneur. 2. BACKGROUND PSO is the largest oil marketing company in Pakistan which is engaged in storage, distribution and marketing of various POL products such as mogas, FO, HSD, Kerosene, LPG, Jet Fuel (JP-1), CNG petrochemicals and lubricants. It has the largest network of retail outlets that serves the automotive sector and supplies fuel to the railways, aviation industry, armed forces, power projects and the agriculture sector. The history of the Company dates back to 1974 when the government overtook and merged Pakistan National Oil (PNO) and Dawood Petroleum Limited (DPL) as Premiere Oil Company Limited (POCL). Later that year, a separate company, Pakistan Storage Development Corporation (PSDC) came into existence which later evolved to State Oil Company Limited (SOCL).
