Supporting learning activities. TDA 2.10 1, 1.1 Planning helps structure teaching and learning. It enables us to look at what pupils have achieved so that they can progress to the next stage. Planning, Teaching and Evaluation form a cycle which should be followed and it is important to be aware of medium or long term plans for the class to ensure that any learning resources that may be needed are accessible. Through planning in advance you will be able to make preparations for the lesson and discuss any issues you may have or not understand with the teacher. It is also possible that, at times, changes to plans may have to be made. It is important to be flexible and manage these situations as smoothly as possible. Some pupils do not like change and this in turn can cause behavioural problems. It is therefore to keep in mind that any changes to planning should be done with minimum disruption. 1.2 My strengths and weaknesses in relation to supporting learning activities in year 1 o I have a good knowledge of English and am able to support to children competently in this subject. I am aware and am still consdiering taking a Maths course, though, at the moment am competent with the level of pupil I am working with. o I enjoy all subjects and feel I am able to contribute positively to their learning environment. o I also enjoy handicrafts and making displays (I did this in year 3 class) which is useful in helping the pupil develop practical skills. o I like to work with the teacher to plan activities and devise new skills, which can be carried out in the classroom. 1.3 I feel my role and responsibilities include the need to ensure that ongoing observation and assessment provides feedback about the childrens achievements to inform future planning of the childrens learning and to ensure
