ENGL 1311 16 September 2013 “The River” It was a hot day to be on the Guadalupe River for Memorial Day weekend. My family and I loaded up the truck, filled the cooler with cold drinks, packed our swim suits, and headed out. The water seemed warm, you could smell the burgers on the grill, kids were playing and the sun was blazing. You can say it was a perfect time to be out with the family enjoying each other’s company. The river is about 230 mi long.
Villa Ortega’s Puerto Nuevo, Mexico has become famous for its seafood restaurants, not just with locals and American tourists; it is internationally renowned for its local lobster. If you love the beach and you are looking for a place where you can stay with your loved one and have a beautiful time, I have the best option for you. Until now most of the restaurants in Puerto Nuevo were nice but not spectacular. Villa Ortega’s is spectacular and hard to miss with a shark in front of the restaurant. Villa Ortega’s is wonderful for a couple in love.
Trout Lake is located near the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, surrounded by massive white birch and maple tress, beautiful meadows, and crystal clear water, so clear you can almost see the bottom. It was a place to get away from everyday life, for the weekend or just for a week or two. Trout Lake holds a special place in my heart and I have some really fond memories of spending time there. It's a place where memories are made, like the first time I learned how to swim, the family BBQ'S, sitting around the campfire roasting hotdogs and marshmallow's for s'mores, and holidays, especially the Fourth of July. Spending time at Trout Lake changed my perspective on what the "word" family means.
Red Lobster Livingstone Endee DeVry University Red Lobster Red Lobster is known as one of the most economical and family oriented restaurants in the United States. Founder of Red Lobster, Bill Darden, opened his first restaurant at the age of 19 called The Green Frog. From the beginning, Bill’s restaurants focused on quality and service. With a passion for seafood, it was only a matter of time before Bill and his team opened the first Red Lobster in Lakeland, Fla., in 1968. By the early 1970s, the company expanded throughout the Southeast, establishing Red Lobster as the leader among seafood and casual dining restaurants.

As a child, every fall, my parents would take me and my siblings camping. Dad worked a lot, so we counted down the days of summer, until we got to be together. Every breath I took was like I was inhaling my childhood. I could hear the waves bouncing off the rocks as we sat on the patio and had lunch. The smell of the water and the warmth that touched my skin, when the sun peeked through the clouds, took me back in time to the campground.
| Cancún | Daniela Caballero | | | 5th Semester | | Cancun has some of Mexico’s most beautiful beaches, Mayan temples and ruins in Mexico. Cancun’s Mayan areas have an interesting but sad past. It has a little something for the whole family. Adults can relax by the pretty pool or the gorgeous beach while having delicious drink, the kids can play at the mini water park next to the pool or just hang out at the kids club which is fun free babysitting. Teens can hang out at the pool or beach and at night hang out at the club for 17 years old and younger.
From horse back riding, to painting, playing sports and swimming and jumping in the lake, summer camp has endless possibilities to the fun you will have. All fun and games except jumping into the deep lake where you can't touch the bottom or see what unknown is below you in all of that darkness. Riding horses like Summer and Cinnamon was my favorite thing to do with my best friend Karissa.
I would relax quietly on the lime rock bed of the swimming hole and watch the movement of the fish swimming below. As I sat with my feet dangling over the edge, my mind would to take me far beneath, swimming deep into the clear green-blue water, the gentle swaying of sea grass brushing softly against me I would wonder what it must be like to be a fish. When the sunset began to go down I knew it was time to head back home. I was always up for a good competition. So during weekends, my cousin would come out to stay with us to get away from the city, she enjoyed swimming we would head to the swimming hole where we pretended to be in the Olympics we would have relay races to see who could get to the other side first.
For the last 17 years I have spent summers with my dad in Utah and the rest of the year with my mom in Florida. My part-time Mormonism usually began the first weekend after the last day of school. I remember my brother and I being so excited to fly to Utah because the summer would kick-off with a big family reunion camping trip. During those summers, I was Mormon and everything we did revolved around the
