I was a little nervous but I was mostly determined to hit the shot and end the game. When the ref raised his hand to give the ball to Tyler to inbound the ball all I could hear was my heart beating in my ears. I ran straight down the lane just like the play was designed. When I got the ball I threw up a 10 foot fade away that kissed softly off the glass as the horn sounded. As I hit the floor I saw the ball descend from the bottom of the net.
They were having hotdogs for her and I decided it’d be a good time to bring myself into the world and steel her spotlight, and to this day I laugh about it while she gets a little evil eye every time we tell someone. Now we celebrate our birthdays together, and throw big parties for each other. This year, on my 17th birthday, her 22nd a friend of us both took us to the fair. I hurt my knee and had to go home before we got to do all the things we wanted to, and because we rode together and I couldn’t drive she had to leave too. I couldn’t believe after I hurt myself and was almost in tears because of pain she wanted to yell at me and call me names like it was my fault.
Smoky Mountain High As I packed the family up in the car, excitement was running through my body, and thoughts of the mountains ran through my mind. It was a long trip from Florida every year, but it was worth the trip and plenty of time for excitement to build. Seven hours to be exact, but finally after that seventh hour of driving I made it to the winding roads of the Smoky Mountains. The excitement was almost overwhelming, but I knew I still had awhile before I could set around the campfire and relax and let all the stress melt away. The vehicle swayed back and forth as the road climbs up and down through the mountains.
Lines are usually very long for high intensity rides, but the anticipation that is created waiting in lines are a thrill itself. As a rollercoaster lover, I like to visit Six Flags a lot. Going on old rides always bring back great memories with of my friends and family. It has changed by far from when they first came out. The evolution from wooden tracks to steel tracks have allowed for more flexibility in the air, as the wooden material restricted the coasters.
I had to bring a bunch of extra things too: Tools for rebuilding and a mat to sleep on. The next morning my family drove me to our church where all the kids were throwing their bags into a trailer hooked up to a gigantic red van. We all said good-bye to our families and got into the van
I was raised to be humble…very humble therefore I naturally belittle my accomplishments. I also second guess myself constantly during decision making. Report Our text shows that each of us have the potential to become not only leaders but great leaders at that.
europe8th of April was probably one of those days in 20 kids lives that they will never forget, as we all set off for Europe! After 36 hours with stop over’s in Hong Kong and Helsinki we finally reached Berlin Airport tired although newly invigorated and pumped for the excursion. In Berlin we visited some of the Nazi concentration camps, the site of the 1936 Olympic Games and perhaps the most highly anticipated, The Berlin Wall. ‘Public Apologies’ on the tour bus from those who were late then became the norm and continued throughout the entirety of the trip which kept everyone in high spirits. When in transit to Prague, with a quick stop over in Dresden, other games were formulated to pass the time, including get-to-know-you and secret admirer
Mine include spending an entire weekend with my computer on my lap working on that 24 page final paper for Mr. Hale's class, pausing only long enough to get another cup of coffee! We’ve all had the pleasure of waiting for hours in line to get into the bookstore on the first day of the new quarter, only to wait an hour or longer to get out of the bookstore and then pray that we make it to the first class of the day - on time! We have made lifelong friends, learned to be part of a community and had some crazy adventures. For you, some of those could have been all night study groups with too much food and way too much caffeine, those students involved in sports who had bus trips to away games or the field trips like mine to the Dayton Art Institute (for Art Appreciation) when a few students got lost or one whose car wouldn’t start afterwards. These adventures provided us with fun, stress, and new appreciation as lessons learned by life itself.
The summer before my junior year I experienced the best week of my life. Deep in the beautiful mountains of Colorado about 12 hours away is a place called Frontier Ranch, a Young Life camp. The excitement and overwhelming happiness before getting on the bus for the long ride is what keeps us all sane. As I say goodbye to my parents and friends staying home, the only thing I can think about is having the opportunity to get away for a week: without a phone, computer, or television and growing in my relationships not only with my friends but with Jesus as well. After the long 12 hour drive I can feel the suspense and and thrill all around me.
“If I have to wait here one more minute I’m going to start punching babies”. Brittany whined as we slowly made our way through the Splash Mountain waiting line in Disney World, supposedly the happiest place on Earth. However, after the rain, high school drama, and 5 endless days of walking it was starting to be more of a pain then anything. Every other year, like most high schools our Visual and performing arts departments takes a “glorious” spring break trip to the one and only Disney World. According to the itinerary’s handed to our parents it would be a one of a kind learning experience, full of workshops, performances and behind the scenes look at the performing parts of Disney.
