Since the inception of the program the scope has expanded to take on more and more services. One of the most requested services is that of sound financial management. “Cents makes Sense” is a program that will provide these services to our community. Introduction _________ In February of 2008 the organization “Stand up For Seniors” was founded in Zumbrota, MN. It was conceived from an idea from local churches and community leaders who experienced the needs of the aging town population. It serves the community as a whole in assisting seniors in a multitude of daily living tasks. The purpose of Stand Up For Seniors is to assist the aging population of the community in completing tasks, free of charge, around their homes or apartments. The goal of the organization is to serve the clients in completing tasks that they may not be able to anymore. Our philosophy is to provide this service in the most professional manner possible. Keeping ones dignity intact is of the utmost importance. The organization is strictly a not for profit one. First of all there is no charge to the clients of the program. There is currently one paid Director position that is funded by a grant from the State of Minnesota. The rest of our current staff of 25 are volunteers. When the organization was initiated in the winter of 2008 it was opened up to the nearly 2000 senior residents of the Zumbrota area. One area of great need is one of fiscal management. What I am proposing is the funding of an additional program in conjunction with the services we now provide. This program is called “Cents Make Sense” This program will provide a multitude of services clients of Stand Up For
