These men began removing boxes and pieces of machinery from the warehouse. There were loaded in a U-Haul that had been parked around back with the lights off. This activity continued for several days with each morning bringing more missing machinery and even the furniture in the offices disappearing. The workers realized that the company was disbanding their factory and probably setting up a factory somewhere else with the equipment from Republic. It had become news that a new window and door factory was opening up in Red Oak, Iowa and that the owner was from a company that was just incorporated on November 18, 2008.
John had barely begun his workday on the 81st floor when he heard a loud explosion. As flames burst through the office, John and his co-workers quickly headed for the stairwell. "I thought I would die," John said. "The building was swaying and we could feel the building tilting to the left, fighting our way through the fire making our way to the stairwell." Fearing the worst for his pregnant wife Mary, John made frantic cell phone calls to her without success.
To make the work even for everyone, employees have an “Up Dog” list with the employees’ names; the name that is at the top of the list has to deal with the customer coming through the door. After the 9/11 incident, several things changed. The store started closing earlier, Las Vegas casino industry suffered great losses and airlines cancelled
One evening, Kelly went to the movie theatre. When the movie was over, Kelly needed to use the restroom. As she emerged from the bathroom stall and approached the sink, Kelly slipped on a puddle of water in front of the sink, crashed to the floor and landed painfully on her shoulder. Earlier in the day, the movie theatre knew the bathroom sink pipe had broken and called a plumber to come fix it. The plumber called the theatre late in the afternoon and said she could not arrive until the next day.
For instance, there were a variety of different responses after the terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001. In the excerpt from Simplexity by Jeffrey Kluger, the author is discussing the series of events that happened on that day, and how everyone had reacted to them. Some people got busy tying their shoes on their way to work that day, or had to stop to use the restroom, or maybe even their car stopped working. That was pure luck that they didn’t go to work that day. But those that went to work, sprinted for the stairs, saved their work, stopped to help others escape.
President Bush addressed the entire nation after the events that took place on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. In his speech, he addressed not only Congress but also the many thousands of Americans that were horrified and grief-stricken. President Bush spoke of the many men and women who died due to "evil, despicable acts of terror" and appealed to us using pathos. I would say that he provided a very decent and convincing argument in his speech. These events are still fresh in our minds, even 7 years later.
Samantha Gearhart Professor Ballard Sociology 120 16 January 2011 September 11, 2001 “Mom, what happened?” I asked my mother, curious as to why she sat in front of the TV crying and calling my father frantically. “Nothing sweetie, go to your room,” my mother responded as tears rolled down her cheeks. September 11, 2001 was a day that changed history forever. Although I was only eleven years old, and had no idea how horrible it truly was, I knew that something terrible had happened. After my mother was able to calm down, and my father returned from work, they sat me down to explain what had happened.
Phone 2: I am working at the Hilton Hotel on the reception desk when I received a phone call from a guest in the hotel complaining that their television was not working properly. When this problem first arose I immediately apologised to the guest and reassured them that I would send a member of staff to go and repair the faulty television. When the customer first rang they sounded very agitated, however I kept my tone of voice calm and appropriate to the situation. I took down notes of the problem the name of the guest and the guests’ room number, I then stored this information into the hotel’s computer in case the problem arose again in that room with the same guest or if another booked in on a later date. Fax handling: I am going to give very straight forward instructions on how I have used a fax machine: Sending a fax: * Turn on the fax machine * Retrieve the fax number of the person you wish to send a fax to * Gather the documents that are required to be sent to the person and ensure that they are in the order that you want them to be sent and received.
The night that Miss Genovese was murdered, I was at my apartment watching the whole scene happen. I was shocked and did not know what to do. A little before the scene, I came out of work and was very tired. Just before I was about to get ready for a bed, I heard a woman screaming for help in my window. First, I did not think it was a big deal, but after a while everyone in the building started to turn on their lights and knew something was going on with this lady.
I locked myself in my room for days. I remember going to the services and how hard it was. As I grew older, I realized that everyone has gone through this similar process because everyone handles things differently, and we all have to deal with losing loved ones. We are only on this earth for a period of time. As I’m older now I deal with death better then when I was a child.
