THE CALL OF THE WILD Buck, the main character of “the Call of the Wild”, is an intelligent dog living at Judge Miller’s house in California. He possesses strong muscles and long, thick, warm hair, so he is kidnapped and sent to Alaska to work as a sled dog. Although he is a pet, a master of dogs at the house and receives the love of every member of Miller’s family, he can learn and adapt very quickly the law of the wild; he learns how to fight, steal and kill wild animal to survive. Nevertheless, he still has good nature. He knows how to show his love to ones whom he loves. At the end, though he loves his final master, he follows the call of the wild and becomes a real wild animal. Spizt, the leader dog of Fancois’dog team, which Buck is one of them, is a big snow-white guy. Contrasting with Buck, he is an amoral or devil dog; he likes to steal food, attacks and bosses around the other dogs. He is the opponent of Buck. They often have battles, and one day he is killed by Buck. John Thornton is Buck’s final master and an experienced gold hunter. He is nice and friendly, especially understands and loves dog. He saves Buck from Hal and behaves with Buck as his friend, so he is the most loved master of Buck. Thornton is killed by some Yeehat Indians while Buck is going
