Poe does this by telling the poem in a point of view where a man tells the story of the death or remembrance of a young love or woman. He also puts a sense of gloom in each of his poems. For example, in Gwendolyn Brooks' "We real cool", the poet uses a strong rhyme scheme, a consistent meter, and an almost sing-song tone to demonstrate the lack of education of the narrator and his or her youthfulness. It also emphasizes the last line "We die soon.". Another is in "unity of action".

The poems Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein (1974) and The Lamb by William Blake (1789) at first glance, would appear straightforward and simple in nature, seen only to describe the sidewalk and a lamb respectively. However a deeper analysis reveals the more complex ideas of the power of imagination and childhood innocence implied in each text. Where the Sidewalk Ends uses poetic conventions such as metaphors, alliteration and visual imagery to effectively convey its meaning to readers.
Michellae Brown Ms. Horton AP Lit. And Comp. Rhetorical Essay (Final) The beauty of birds in flight is all in the eye of the beholder. Two experiences of bird watching by Audubon and Dillard differ, one is objectively descriptive while the other is poetic in nature. In Audubon’s essay, he uses “objective” diction to create impartial and precise aspects of the birds in flock, with words such as “extreme beauty” and “immense legions.” He uses words such as these to not compare the birds to actual life, but to describe the image he sees and how it makes him feel.

A poet relies on his feeling to convey the current situations that they are in. Poets usually allow their emotions to drive their words and it allows their thoughts to flow. Poetry is like a playground where poets can explore their inner thought and question everything. Its their view of the world that allows them to paint us a picture of their dreams, aspirations and nightmares that they have encountered. What makes it so effective is that they allow the raw emotion to drive the delivery of their words.
