• 2nd piece of evidence was that there were no evidence to a spurge or crime rate. Two criminologists, at the end of the decade reviewed the available crime statistics, and what they could conclude was there was no crime wave but a small increase. There are four primary sources of crimes committed with transporting alcohol during prohibition. These primary sources were written in newspaper articles or court case files and testimonies taken during trial. The argument is against those who committed theses crimes, they knew what they were doing was wrong and instead they continued to break the law.
Some people might argue that Peter didn’t have enough strength, maybe because he went through rehab 4 different times, but regardless of all that, he succeeded. L.L. Stanley, an author in the Journal of the American Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology, says “no one who has treated any considerable number of drug addicts, will venture the assertion that any treatment is successful in bringing about permanent cures in the majority of cases” (Stanley). It is hard for a drug addict to be completely cured of an addiction;
Do you think marijuana should be legalized, decriminalized or remain illegal? Explain using arguments to justify your response Lamiah Wardak Nov/19/2013 Blk: 03 End Prohibition: The War on Drugs is an utter failure. Marijuana has been in use for thousands of years and has not been contributed to a single death. Legalizing marijuana would save the Canada billions of dollars. Marijuana is not a gateway drug, it's not physically addicting, and it doesn't kill brain cells...
Libby told us she has 14 years in the service and started her Corrections Career in the clerical ranks. It was nice to hear from someone who didn’t start their career as a Corrections Officer. It was interesting to hear intelligence doesn’t always mean how smart you are, but rather how observant you are. When Kevin was talking about officers who never fill out any report other than an incident report, all I could think about was the officers telling me when I was on practicum, they don’t fill out reports because management never does anything about the situation. Almost every officer I talked to had the why bother attitude.
In 1992 a ban on voting was lifted, and Jehovah’s Witnesses were allowed to vote, but many do not practice the option to vote for governors, mayors, or even the past monumental presidential election for that matter. Blood transfusions are another exception within the Jehovah’s Witnesses that is of discussion; some Witnesses have had blood transfusions with no consequences to them from other Jehovah’s Witnesses. Upon further research I found out Jehovah’s Witnesses do not partake in any type of blood transfusions. The Islam belief of not eating meat until all blood is drained, applies to all Jehovah’s Witnesses who follow the religion. Their refusal of blood transfusions is not a personal one, but an action they follow based on the Bible in Acts
Twenty-one states in this country have mandatory arrest laws (Barton & Diedrich, 2012), but there is no one to enforce them, and if laws are ignored, there are no penalties. In Wisconsin, every law enforcement agency is required to have a written policy that spells out how they respond to domestic violence calls, but local departments are not required to submit their policies to any state agency for review, and it is not known how many departments have actually written one (Barton & Diedrich, 2012). Mark Wynn, a retired Nashville Police Department lieutenant and a domestic violence expert, argues, “It may have a great policy, but somewhere along the chain it is not being followed. You may have two policies, a written and an unofficial policy of practice, and that is a problem. That is a failure of leadership.
` Racial Profiling I have been teased for my race but I have never been profiled before. A few people I mow have been but it didn't really affect me until my close friend who happened to be Hispanic was and I was with them. Brian, is like any average teenage boy who gets into trouble some times but never with the law usually with his parents for getting a C. He wouldn't ever do anything intentionally reckless on the road but the cops who pulled him over also decided to give him a curfew ticket, a ticket for having a lighter in his car, and a speeding ticket although he was going 2 miles above the speed limit. Due to high-strung immigration laws, cops in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas are now "20 times more likely
Not only did this study state that the weapons banned were only used in a small percent of crimes even before the ban, but also "found no statistical evidence of post-ban decreases in either the number of victims per gun-homicide incident, the number of gunshot wounds per victim, or the proportion of gunshot victims with multiple wounds. "(Koper, Roth 67) So even if Congress bans these vaguely named assault weapons it will most likely be as ineffective as the last time they did so. Some take issue with the ban not because of its’ functionality problems, but because they feel it violates their rights as
In those countries it is nearly impossible for you to buy any kind of gun. In those countries there are no gun shows. In those countries they have strict gun laws. Even though we have been able to bear arms in our countries past, it would benefit our nation as a whole if we restricted and controlled guns. Such actions would help lower our nations homicide and suicide rates, help eliminate teen and child gun related deaths, and to decrease armed robbery.
This may be true, and if so it will show gun control does not help as much as someone would think or like. In an article published by USA Today, it is mentioned that our government has already tried limiting our rights during the Clinton administration. The government banned certain semiautomatic firearms, and the result indeed showed that there was absolutely no different in the crime rate, absolutely none. Which has brought me to my next point, the black market. The black market is home to many goods that many cannot easily attain, quite ironic.
