Richard’s grandmother was always excessively beating him. From the beginning, Richard would not subdue himself to the white man like the other black people around. The white people knew that he was different from other black men. Whites were scared because Richard challenged the system that they had created to insure white supremacy. They feared Richard, and some of the white people felt it necessary to act out their racist feelings in order to cover up their fear.

Malcolm X as an Activist During the 1960’s, there was one man who really stood out about expressing the hardships of being an African American. This man was Malcolm X. Ultimately, Malcolm X believed to the fullest extent, that African American’s could not reach their full potential in society because of white racism, and the historical events leading from slavery in the United States. However, due to the events that happened in his childhood, Malcolm X tries to reverse this feeling of victimization throughout his life and tries to become a positive activist for all African Americans. Throughout his life and up until the day he dies, Malcolm X tries to pursue this ultimate goal of seeing white racism in a positive light and making something good come out of the events that happened in his life.

The nature of racism has evolve over time from the old fashioned overt expressions of White supremacy and racial hatred to the more subtle, ambiguous, and unintentional expressions called aversive racism. Because most White people associate racism with hate crimes and White supremacist groups, they are unaware how racism has taken on an invisible nature to the extent that they have lost the perception of unintentional racism towards people of color. Do you think there is racial bias in advertisements?? Personally, I think there are many racial biases in advertisement and less now because before, there are many inequality advertisement about race and discrimination of many human beings and so advertisement using the method of “discriminating people” will make the people looking at the advertisement (offenders) feel good and so the person will buy the product. One of the biggest discrimination in the world is the black people and the white people and there are many historical evidences in the advertisement saying they are being racist. Also, there are many religious racial biases in advertisement. One of the famous advertisements selling the sandwiches, as you can see on the right, it’s definitely offending the Jewish.

The only difference is that instead of unconsciously showing off some negative views on a specific race, symbolic racism is characterized by outwardly acting unprejudiced while inwardly maintaining prejudiced attitudes. In other words, people who practice symbolic racism would have the ability of distinguishing racial discriminations and would usually tend to avoid phanic circumstances of showing their prejudice toward a certain race, yet they would display subtle prejudiced behaviors in cases not easily discovered. This type of unconspicuous racism has been shown some serious implications on decision making in employment, in legal decisions and in helping behavior. For instance, in 2015, an American-born Indian student named Vijay Chokal-Ingram faced the time of his life to apply for med school. As a mediocre student with average GPA, Vijay still wanted to go to an upscale medical school to pursue his dreams, but due to his middling grades, he was rejected by most of the schools that he applied for.

Also, ‘The Black Panthers’ were a very violent group and saw King’s campaign as time consuming and feared it being forgotten in the process. The group called for a revolutionary war against authority, but it never happened and there are many conspiracy theories as to why the group ended. King was later assassinated at his hotel, showing that his race was still not equal, and some people still looked down on African Americans and didn’t like the change. Although all of these activists had the same idea and values, they had very different ideas of how to achieve their ideal society. Doctor King, Malcolm X, and the Black Panthers all contributed to the major changes of society’s attitudes towards the African American people by targeting very different audiences in society.
Okonkwo had a horrible temper and this caused him to be very violent. He depicted these actions by beating his family in effort to control them, he believed his first son Nwonye was like his father therefore, he beat him often in attempt to make him more manly. He also beat up his second wife because he came back from outside and his afternoon meal had not yet been prepared, disregarding the fact that it was a peace week and every family was supposed to be peaceful. He made poor decisions by participating in the killing of the boy Ikemefuna who lived with him and called him father, after he had been warned not to participate in his killing. The continuous disagreement between Okonkwo and the new religion, people, and values adopted by his society results in his life falling apart and suicide, at the end of the book.
