Unit 7: Music Assignment Letta Carroll Kaplan University Professor Jordan HU300 – 11 The music I associate with childhood is something along the lines of Disney or nursery rhymes. Some movies that come to mind with great music for kids are Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp, Beauty and the beast, and Shrek. There are so many songs out there that make me think of childhood and how I use to imagine I was a cartoon and lived happily ever after. Then you have the jingles you hear from kid’s shows like Sesame Street, Barney, or the Backyardigans. Music with a catchy melody and lyrics that have a meaning and also teach lessons, really stick to a child’s sponge like mind.

The similarities and differences of the two versions of Alice that was produced for the 1951 Disney animation with the version of Alice created by Tim Burton. From looking at both interpretations of Alice, there are noticeable differences and similarities to their appearances. The differences in their appearances is that Tim Burton’s Alice wears several different and more elaborate outfits nearly every time she changes size, but still maintaing her blue ankle-length gown as her main garment. The Disney Alice however, wears a less detailed outfit with a blue knee-length dress with a white pinafore, white stockings, petticoat, white bloomers, a black hair ribbon and “Mary Jane” style shoes. Another difference is that the Disney Alice is an eleven year old girl and Tim Burton’s Alice being nineteen years old and even old enough to marry.
Credit: Wikimedia Commons Theodore Geisel is best known by the pseudonym Dr. Seuss (the correct pronunciation of Seuss rhymes with "voice" not "loose"), perhaps the most recognizable name in literature. Every December we’re treated to How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and each year young kids are introduced to classics like Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat, yet the wider public does not appear to know much about the man behind these famous works. To gear up for the release of the CGI-animated film Horton Hears A Who!, we aim to change that by presenting five things you didn’t know about Dr. Seuss, the most familiar and beloved pen name in children’s literature. 1- Dr. Seuss adopted his pseudonym by drinking gin Geisel’s
Describe an example of the child’s finemotor skills observed Ashley used the superior forefinger grasp to pick up the half spiked ball and the plush lady bug on the floor. She used the pincer grasp to grasp the cheerio Tara (her mother) had placed on the red plate. With Ashley’s fist she held the spoon at the very top of the handle. Felix used his hands and fingers to link together the link toys and to strum the strings of the toy guitar. Felix was using his small motor development to pull the plush circle out of the mirrored plush wedge toy and then push it back in along with the square and triangle.
Euro Disney Management Successes and Failures Until 1992, the Walt Disney Company had experienced nothing but success in the theme park business. It’s first park, Disneyland, opened in Anaheim, California in 1955. Its theme song, “It’s a Small World After All,” promoted an idealized vision of America embellished with reassuring glimpses of exotic cultures all calculated to promote heart heartwarming feelings about living together as one happy family. The park was also filled with Disney characters that everyone knew from the cartoons and comic books that were on hand to entertain the guests and direct them to the endless supply of Disney merchandise. In the 1970s, the triumph was repeated in Florida, and in 1983, Disney proved they could go international with the opening of Tokyo Disney.
You might all be wondering who this magnificent man is, well...his name is Pinky my Teddy bear. Teddy bears are the symbol of child-like innocence. They remind of us of being nurtured and cared for by others. Teddy bears are a symbol of the care free moments of childhood when our greatest concerns were when the next play time is. No matter what adult responsibilities that we may have, we all need to have moments of escape.
