Study Analysis Microsoft in Korea case Analysis of the initiatives The Korean branch of Microsoft thought that there was a potential chance to dramatically enhance its affiliated company’s performance with offensive recruiting activity and promoting female senior managers in Korea. The case says that this Microsoft’s recruitment initiatives caused result that an almost 50% increase in its representation of female employees. The question will be if every female in Korea are active indeed enough to handle tough situation in the field actually in Korea. Being similar with other company’s situation, more than 50% of the jobs in Microsoft Korea were in sales and consulting in this case. There would be a strong likelihood that this initiatives regarding female recruiting activity which looked biased would not be successful in the long term perspective of global talent management. It could be possible for Microsoft to get good results in short term of fiscal years with this plan because this plan focused on raising the rate of employment for female to represent its diversity in human resource management. This squeezing plan would reach the limit because it could not change the atmosphere of the technology industry in Korea fundamentally. According to the study in elementary education, there was different atmosphere in elementary classroom at clean-up time between in the U.S. and in Korea. In U.S., every people were trying to be involved in cleaning classroom regardless gender. On the contrary, in Korea, female students had a tendency to passive action in cleaning classroom thinking tough tasks such as cleaning classroom belong to male’s job. Therefore, It is obvious that what was necessary for Microsoft Korea to succeed in Korea for decades is not a biased plan, but just a motto of “right people, right position”.
