The small group instruction should help Anthony out so that he can feel free to ask questions and we can slow the lesson down with there only being a few students in the group. Once he is caught up with the other students, I believe that he will be more interested in following along in the lessons because he will actually know what we are talking about. Once he is caught up, I believe that the drawing in his notebook will not be a problem anymore. The second behavior that I
Reshae Head SPE529 Reflective Journal Self-Contained and Inclusive Classrooms Self-contained classrooms in my opinion are great for students who have similar abilities and are trying to achieve a common goal. Self-contained classrooms allow teachers to focus on a minority group of kids that may need help that the majority of the kids may not need. This allows for certain students not to be held back, while others may need to slow down and receive special instructions or accommodations. I also like the fact that in a self contained setting, students are around kids with similar struggles so they tend to feel more comfortable and be more engaging during lessons. The only negative I see in the self-contained setting is the fact that the kids are sometimes cut off from the general education students.
This may mean that the pupil will open up and could explain their feelings and emotions towards the subject of streaming, and the reasons why they ‘develop a negative image’. A few advantages of using unstructured interviews when studying the effects of steaming are that the informality of the interview allows the interviewer to gain the trust of the interviewee which is important in this example. Pupils at school will not feel comfortable explaining their time at school if the interviewer is very formal and makes them feel intimidated whereas by using an unstructured interview it allows the pupils
It can leave the participant feeling bad with seemingly no way forward. Verbalising and exploring a learners thoughts can assist them gain a positive perspective of their own work and ability and will also help identify problem areas, therefore providing both the teacher and the learner with the ability to develop e.g. asking a learner where they think they did well and where they think they could improve. Some situations in which constructive feedback is required can include; ongoing performance discussions, providing specific performance pointers, following up on teaching discussions, providing correct guidance, providing a learner with consequences of their behaviour. Clues at when constructive feedback is needed can be when a learner asks for your opinion on how they are doing, this can be a 'cry for help' from a learner.
They are identified in a person but aren’t really the person’s number one choice. The preferred strategies are the strategies that help the person learn and cope to their needs. Identified strategies are there and also help but the person would prefer the other strategies over them. As discussed earlier, kinesthetic strategies embody actively engaging into the lesson. On the contrary, aural study strategies engage “attending classes, discussions, and tutorials, discussing topics with others and teachers, and using a tape recorder.” People who are good listeners and learn better by hearing have aural strategies.
Most students try to avoid being lectured or get in trouble for something they can avoid. This is definitely extrinsic motivation that in turn create intrinsic motivation. Also, being able to see others students succeed around them can also motivate. If I don't care about my homework but I see that my friends do, I might be more likely to start caring about it
That is when I realized that he wasn’t necessarily a “bad” student he was just a young child who needed motivation and someone who would just care. That is the meaning that I found within Dr. Michaels statement. How does a classroom teacher garner respect? There are many methods that a teacher can use in order to gain their students respect. For example, the most effective method would be, to respect the students and their feelings before they can respect you.
Another thing that benefits me is being able to here others people points of view. I may not understand what the instructor is asking so if I read or hear another person response then I may understand it better. I ask the other classmates questions on how they would respond to the subject and keep an open mind about their answer. How might factors such as diversity, attitude, learning, and work styles affect collaboration? *
Understand that your grades could be in jeopardy if you don’t manage your time correctly, because without a doubt the manager will probably ask for you to stay later. Knowing your options and really looking into them never hurts, and could restore the issue of homework being done because other places don’t have the demand as much as a Mcjob does for more workers. Michele closes with a statement from Prof. Bishop, “The goal is to not get kids to stop working, its to get
Students with emotional and behavioral disorders can often control themselves better if given the option to step away. Having a quiet area in the classroom gives them an appropriate choice. Encourage students to journal, which allows them to get in touch with their emotions and possibly understand the causes. Lastly, reward affected students frequently for positive behaviors, instead of correcting, because the student can easily get frustrated or angry with corrections (Schreiner, n.d.).
