“Bullying is a big problem that effects millions of students, and it has everyone worried, not just the kids on it’s receiving end” (Lyness 1). Bullying does not just affect kids, but the parents too. It affects the parents because a lot of their children begin to be afraid attending school. In the novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Melinda was affected by being bullied lead her to think about suicide, scared of coming to school, and victims like Melinda begin to not care about school and fail. Melinda was affected by being bullied and led to many things and one of them is thinking about suicide.
With America violent history, was display with America’s violence with foreign countries such as Iraq and Kuwait (Moore). Then within America the fear that people have is due to the violence that is regularly shown in their everyday lives. Other aspects that crimes develop are because of poverty and unemployment. This has made living in times much harder for American because of the failing economy. Growing up in rough times means rough times in some schools.
To Kill a Mockingbird should be banned from the educational system because, it discusses sexism and other mature content, uses vulgar and offensive language, and it deals with racism. “To Kill a Mockingbird” is part of numerous educational programs currently, even though it deals with mature matters. Young learners are discovering topics that are meant to be forgotten until a later point in their lives, when they are fully able to understand the consequences of our past. “To Kill a Mockingbird” should be banned from the educational system because it is far to advanced for many students to
Ishmael finds the courage to participate. And finally he is confident enough to take the fight to Barry Bagsley; he can almost taste revenge for the humiliation he and others have suffered. The results are unexpected. Notes for teachers • The theme of bullying strong in the book: the name-calling, the victimisation of those who are different or less able socially are both ways that Barry Bagsley finds to belittle others. Class discussion could be based on a consideration of the characters and the different ways they deal with bullying.
If you fail to stop or pullover, I feel the police should have the right to stop you any way they can. Running from the law will only cause more problems for you. Also when the police do find you they will have no choice but to use force to stop you this time. This is where the criminals cry excessive force but it was caused by their own actions. The use of tasers in the schools have become a huge debate.
Bullying can now lead to criminal cases and lawsuits. By the schools letting bullying continue it teaches students that it's ok. This creates a fearful environment instead of a learning one. Students feel "let me bully so I don't get bullied". Bullying victims can have a lot of stress added on and it can lead to retaliation such as school shootings as well as suicide.
Yes, you obviously blame them because they are the ones that did the crime but when I actually look into it I blame the people that drove them to do this. Some people aren’t as strong as others. When going into high school you have to be strong and learn different ways to handle certain situations. A lot of people get harsh, cruel things done to them and
Not only is this a horrible solution to hate speech but it is completely violating students’ right to free speech. Students must think twice before making a statement that may not even be offensive to anyone but with the speech code in effect the student may be facing punishment because of it. In the passage by Alan Charles Kors titled, “The Betrayal of Liberty on America’s Campuses”, the author gives an example of unfair punishment due to the speech code enforced at Carnegie Mellon University. Kors wrote, “At Carnegie Mellon University, a student called his female opponent in an election for the Graduate Student Organization a ‘megalomaniac’. He was charged with sexual harassment” (Kors paragraph 4).
By limiting the drinking age to 21, the government is just encouraging students to make illegal behavior and dishonesty. Due to the majority of underage drinkers, students are disobedient to the law; which leads up to criminal penalties. One example is that students are using fake ID Cards, to have the right to drink. When caught, these penalties can be severe and costly. It is obvious that the law has not succeeded in preventing the underage group from drinking.
Appearance has always been one of the main factors of social rejection; therefore, those who appear to be different are those who are not easily accepted by others. Psychologists state that one of the most common reasons for social rejection is the appearance of aggression. “People may socially exclude others who are seen to be aggressive because they intimidate and instill fear for general safety.” (Li-Or 22) Students who are labeled as “emo” or “gothic” are generally those who are bullied and/or ridiculed in school. Stereotypically, these groups compose pain upon themselves, and possibly others, and believe in the dark attitudes of life. Since it is natural for humans to avoid and to protect themselves from any possible danger, it is no surprise that those students who come across as either hazardous or intimidating are alienated from the rest of the student
