One of my strongest memories was when I was nine years old. It was when my Mamaw gave me her bell. My Mamaw, my great grandmother, was very sick, and one evening I think that she realized she was not going to get better. Mamaw told my Nana, my Mom’s Mother, to bring in all of the great grandchildren into her room where she was laying. When all of the great grandchildren came in the room, Mamaw had a bunch of old trinkets next to her on the bed. She began to calling us up by age, so I was the third to the last. When she finally called my name I walked over to her beside, she took me by the hand and put a bell in it. The bell is dark silver, about four inches tall, and has “Christmas 1982” engraved on it. The ring to it is a higher pitched tone since it is a smaller bell. She told me to have my Mom ring it right before we started school every morning. At that time, my sibling and I were homeschooled. After Mamaw had passed away, it was very hard to hear the bell ringing. I even had my Mom wait a month after her passing to start ringing it again. After we started using the bell again, it was a comfort to hear it because I knew that was what she wanted. My Mamaw’s death was very hard for me because her death was the first major death that I can remember. Everyone told me that it was her time to go, and that she is in a better place now. I did not understand that at the time. I thought that she should have stayed and it was not fair that she had to leave us. For a while, I was mad at her because when they told me that she went to a better place I thought she wanted to leave us. It did not help that one of my cousins, that is a couple years older than I am, told me that Mamaw got new great grandchildren up in heaven. A couple of months later, I told my parents about what my cousin had said, and they got in trouble. After my parents explained to me
