Introduction Organizations are faced with dealing with many different personalities and changes in the workplace. There are times when an individual’s job may come overwhelming. Employees can start to feel that their job responsibilities and expectations are becoming stressful which could lead to a possible burnout. Stress is defined as a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. When a person feels that they are overwhelmed with work or personally there can be a physical or mental collapse that is caused by stress. Employee burnout has a disadvantageous effect on the organization as a whole. The employee begins to loss interest in the job and their role as an employee. This will cause the organizational productivity to drop. The best way to handle employee burnout would be to focus on increasing diversity and change within the organization. Research shows that there are a number of reasons there are a number of health and safety hazards which may result from employee stress and burnout. Stress can be cause severe physiological and psychological damage. These feelings can send signals to the individual body which can affect the heart rate and blood pressure. This is a very serious matter and should never be over looked. Sometimes employees may not know that this is occurring until it is too late. Some symptoms would include: irregular heartbeats, hardening of the arteries, and thrombosis. The psychological problems resulting from stress could possibly cause depression and anxiety. Employees that experience this are less aware of their surroundings and what’s happening in the organization. This is not good for the business because it could cause safety hazards on the job which will affect the employee and the organization.
