Essay (B) I think, in my own opinion that the short story’s main theme is bullying. Bullying is such a big and relevant topic to discuss because it happens all other the world and increasing every day. If you are exposed to bullying, it will affect both you and people around you, especially your family. If they bullying is being taken to the extreme it can cause people to commit suicide, which actually happens in this story with Paul Fry. Bullying has increased a lot over the last couple of years, and the reasons why people are being bullying are growing. Bullying can both be physical and mental bullying. The story also puts a question mark to whether bullying will affect your adult life. In this story it is Paul Fry and Lewis who are the victims of bullying. Paul Fry commits suicide after a long time of being bullied. Lewis luckily lives but is traumatized and begins to be paranoid by the whole experience, which will haunt him for the rest of his life. Lewis is taking notes about Paul Fry and those who are bullying him, and presents them to the Headmaster, who says he will look into it. Lewis is worried about Paul Fry, because he is not acting like all the other new students, he is introverted person and walks by himself “Lewis only noticed the boy because he hadn´t made it to this stage: his shoes remained shiny, and his blazer was smeared with wiped-off chalk and steams of dried spit”. Lewis wants to help Paul Fry, but he is traumatized by the incident caused by the bullies’. Lewis flees to his mother’s house, because he is scared that he might end up like Paul Fry. Lewis has had the same dream every night after the incident where he fell off a cliff, but throughout the story the dream becomes more vivid. Lewis acts strange all the way through the story, he licks the stones that he found on the beach. He runs from his normal life as a teacher and his
