Steward Leader Cheryl Bianchi Tennessee Temple University Steward Leader Reflection Paper Introduction A Steward leader, what is this? How does this fit into the real world? Based on the book The Steward Leader by R. Scott Rodin (2010) he states that a leader that is anointed rather than appointed. He is the one that allows his mind and soul to be opened to the calling of God while still caring out the duties of our role within our work life. Many will not understand that a leader like this can be effective at remaining at level that is needed to remain competitive in the workforce. It might be looked upon as a comingling of religion in the workplace, one of the taboo topics that that are just not discussed or even brought in. Does the Steward leader need to make others around him or her aware that they are the follower of the higher being? A steward leader is someone who is given the resources to preserve, manage, and grow according to the one that has entrusted those resources. Here the manager or the one who gave of the resources is God. Given might not be the best choice of wording here. It probably should be loaned as the resources that the leader has use of to either successfully or fail to cultivate belong to someone else. An investment is bestowed on the steward leader to prepare the organization or the people around them for the future. Rodin appears to be stating that the in the leadership roles that he has held in his life he was not always correct in his thinking. Even though he had extensive theological education he did not always completely understand Leadership in Christian Ministry. He does state that he did do some good things; legacy items that he believes will make a difference to generation that follow. Then he begins to realize that he has made a mistake in his understanding of leadership. He looks deep within and sees that he was
