Milestone Three: Steve Jobs Melissa McIlmail Southern New Hampshire University OL 215: Principles of Management Professor Christopher Mellen February 22, 2015 MILESTONE THREE: STEVE JOBS Steven Paul Jobs (aka Steve Jobs) co-founded Apple Computers (Apple) with Steve Wozniak and dabbled in other ventures before starting Apple in 1976. It was during this time that Jobs oversaw the company’s breakthrough in new technology, such as the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. It was the efforts of Jobs and Wozniak that spring boarded the electronics industry into the modern world. Unfortunately, though, Jobs died in 2011 at the age of 56 after a long batter with pancreatic cancer (Steve Jobs, 2015). It is my belief that the reason Apple Computers has been so successful is because of the passion both Jobs and Wozniak had for electronics. Moreover, that passion brought them together. Steve Jobs was born February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, California and was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs who were the ones to actually name him. During Jobs’ younger years his father showed him how to work on electronics. This soon become a hobby for Jobs that instilled confidence, tenacity, and mechanical skills which only increased his intelligence and innovative thinking. While Jobs was smart he could not be bothered with formal schooling. Nevertheless, since he tested well many of his teachers wanted to advance him into high school when he was only in the fourth grade. Even though Jobs’ teachers advised that he skip ahead his parents did not allow that. It is a good thing Jobs’ parents had not allowed him to advance through school because it was during the time Jobs was in high school that he became acquaint with to his prospected partner Steve Wozniak (Steve Jobs, 2015).
