Whenever pleasure is present, as long as it is there, there is neither pain of body nor of mind, nor both at once. I have to disagree with this statement. Epicurus seems to see pleasure and painful as something too much interrelated or I could say it seems like a negative relationship, because in reality it is not always has to be this way. We could feel both pleasure and painful at the same time. I do think we should take a look on how we measure the pleasure and the painful itself.

The context of the text is also more appealing to me: talking about the positive and good things about social media rather than scaremongering and causing dread in just the simple use of them. I also prefer the basic white background with black text rather than the colourful background because it’s a bit distracting and it doesn’t add anything to the text itself. Also the text in the leaflet seems to be comprised mainly of facts and statistics which do not appeal to me nor do they sway my current opinion of social networking as a whole. The leaflet being in leaflet form however is the biggest reason that it doesn’t appeal me. If it were in a form of a website it could perhaps be more enticing and more appealing to me, but alas it is not.

Another major aspect to the act of degradation involves the idea of the act being apprehended by oneself and the PUBLIC as demeaning to one’s moral character. Thus, any act of degradation has to be a public event for it to be fully comprehended as “degrading.” Thus, concealed acts of abuse and exploitation cannot be deemed as degrading since they do not lower one’s moral worth. Hill also mentions that just because someone does not oppose to an act of degradation, it does not making it any justifiable. She mentions that surely when one person acts in a cowardly manner in times of portraying moral courage, he/she undermines her character and becomes a subordinate person. However, this does not justify others immoral and degrading actions towards this person, it merely indicates a deterioration of one’s moral courage.
