The Steamboat Warehouse restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Jason Huguet in Washington, Louisiana. The restaurant is open for dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week, and it specializes in Louisiana seafood. A peaceful bayou flows nearby, giving the restaurant its name. On any given weekend night, the parking lot is filled with cars because of the large crowds. The Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant is a favorite place to eat in Acadiana because of its historic ambiance and food, but its service could use improvement. One of the main reasons diners enjoy going to the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant is because of its historic past, which helps create a nice ambiance. Construction of the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant began in 1819 and was completed around 1823. The restaurant was restored in 1977 and is located on the banks of Bayou Courtableau. The Steamboat Restaurant is located in Washington, Louisiana, which was settled in 1720, the third oldest settlement in Louisiana. Something visitors find spooky about the restaurant’s past is the fact that it may be haunted. The television show Louisiana Spirits TV traveled to Washington and did an investigation of the historic restaurant. There were reports of knocks, bangs, and voices, along with a sighting of a little girl along the bayou. The fact that it used to be a steamboat warehouse and still looks it inside and out minus the tables and kitchen is what makes the restaurant so appealing. It is interesting to walk around and see the old tools that remain hanging from when it was still a warehouse and viewing the pictures on the wall of what the warehouse and the people working their used to look like.
