Only about 60 percent of all drivers today wear their seatbelts, and according to Oklahoma state university, that is one of the leading causes in car accident fatality(“study mode”). According to the NHTSA wearing your seatbelt is the most effective way for any driver to prevent death in case of an accident. From 2004 to 2008 seatbelts have saved about 75,000 lives, and save about 13,000 lives each year says Oklahoma State University. An article from car accidents .com called “seat belts save lives” says, Americans pay about $580 dollars to car crashes every year. If people would simply buckle up, that alone could cut the costs down dramatically.
Was the motor car ownership the most important reason for improvements in the way of life for many Americans in the 1920s? (16) Ownership of a motor car in the 1920s was a factor in the improvements of the way of life for some Americans. There are other factors like new consumer goods, entertainment and prosperity. During the 1920s Americans where buying lots of new consumer goods these goods where was changing there lives. This is because they had access to radios and fridges really cheaply.
The aircraft option for travelling is one of the most popular forms of transportation available in Britain, with cheap holiday packages indulging many locals, as well as Heathrow Airport being a stopping ground for over 32.8 million overseas visitors in 2007. This form of transportation is also a cause of controversy regarding the proposed expansions where the environment has become a leading topic in regards to whether expansion is good long-term investment. Proponents of the expansion, such as Strathclyde’s Professor William Banks, president of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (McKie, 2009) argued that by building new runways less fuel would be burned thus less amount of carbon emission. He implies that the more runways would be available, the less time airplanes would need before taking off; since planes were burning fuel even when on ground and that more runways meant less waiting time and less amount of fuel burnt. There has also been progress in finding environmental friendly alternatives such as biofuels, which does not contain fossil carbon and does no harm to the atmosphere.
She doesn't believe that the 50's should be taken 'literally' because from the 50's there were changes in values that caused racism and sexism discrimination against women. Many of the existing social problems could have been avoided or ignored. Racial conflict was intense in many places, but many suburbs were exclusively white. The poverty rate was higher than today, but at least it was falling. Teenagers had more babies than they do now, but access to good jobs-even with only a high school education-enabled young men to marry their pregnant girlfriends.
Argument Essay There are approximately 6 million car accidents per year in the U.S, forty percent of car accidents are caused by drunk driving, thirty percent are due to driving above speed limit, and the other thirty percent are because of reckless driving. There are many causes for accidents and the use of cell phones is the minority of the causes. If the government is ready to prohibit using cell phones while driving, then they should be ready to prohibit many other things as well. This entire debate is nothing new. Distracted driving has been a hot topic since 1905, and there were no cell phones back then.
There are many ways to modify the current cars in production to a more safe and inexpensive manner. For example, we can add steel front/rear bumpers like they had in the 50’s. Those bumpers were proven safer than the ones on most cars today. We can also lower the price of gasoline to a regular and average price, so the middle and lower class can afford it. I also think the technology exists to boost up the miles per gallon (mpg) a car can have.
In Road Rage, Ferguson points out that in a recent survey that the Coalition for Consumer Health and Safety did, 64% of the people mentioned that they are driving less mannerly and more recklessly than they did about five years ago (553). We all know that road rage can be cause due to many reasons like stress at work and problems at home. Ferguson also points out that road rage could be solve if we had more police and tougher punishments (556), but we all know that won’t really help. I don’t even think that therapy for those road rage individuals would help. We all just have to pray every time we get into a car and just have patience.
Your conversation can wait put the phone away. Many states have laws and probations but not one completely bans all cellphone use for all age groups.1 All phone use in a vehicle is responsible for unnecessary accidents, not just texting. About twenty eight percent of accidents are linked to phone use in the vehicle.2 When just over a quarter of accidents are caused by such carelessness I think it’s time to do something about the root problem. Texting drivers spend about ten percent of their driving time outside their lane.1 All phone use is responsible and should be banned not just texting. Approximately 1.4 million accidents occur during phone conversations and two hundred thousand from texting.3 Texting drivers may be as impaired as a driver who is legally drunk.
Senior Citizens and Driving In America, the ability to drive without depending on others has become synonymous with independence, autonomy, dignity and self-esteem. According to William Mann, since 90% of people of all ages depend on cars to get from place to place, driving is of major importance at all stages of life ( 2). As we age, however, physical and mental limitations may impair the ability of senior citizens to drive safely. Although most people believe that teenagers are unsafe drivers, they should consider the risks that the elderly take by getting behind the wheel because they have much slower reaction times, are often taking numerous medications, and may have poor eyesight. In order to drive safely, a person must be able to see, think and move well.
With the population boom, just about everyone has a Millennial in their family or at least knows of one. They are the ones that are responsible for the highest proportion of texting and driving incidents. How would you feel, getting an early morning wake up call, to find out your sibling, coworker or friend had died in a car accident involving others of similar age? Perhaps they may have not been the one texting, or distracted, but at least one of the three drivers involved in the crash was a responsible. Our automobile industry has gone to several lengths to help fix this problem, yet people keep dying.
