*State Constitutions vs. United States* Constitution Lastly the United States constitution is a much more stable document than state constitutions. Most state constitutions have been written, and rewritten multiple times, and still subjected to be rewrote in the future. For example, Texas has had 5 constitution and 439 amendments thus far. This provides a clear difference from the United States constitution, which has been in existence for much longer and has under gone very little change in comparison to a state constitution such as that of Texas. State constitutions are subject to much greater scrutiny by its residence because of the relative ease of amending a state constitution in comparison of trying to amend the United States constitution.
