This choir had to me the most proper attire for the occasion; Apple Festival apparel. They were enthusiastic as the crowd was too. Over all my night was long but I had music to help me
Cather made the seasons the biggest connection with the life of Burden. The spring brings lovely fruit and life with it. For example "I couldn't feel so tired that I wouldn't fret about these trees when there was a dry time (340). They were on my mind like children" (340). Cather uses Antonia’s life that is steadily growing and changing, to change the way Burden see Antonia.
Finally after lots of begging and pleading, Jody got the responsibility of raising a baby fawn. Another example of how raising the fawn helped make Jody’s childhood exceptionally enjoyable, was how it always gave Jody something to do. After a long day of chores and school, Jody would rush outdoors to play and train his pet fawn. Jody really enjoyed his fawn, sometimes it was difficult with all the work the fawn required. But at the end of a long day, the fawn always put a smile on Jody’s face.
The story begins with a descriptive picture of exactly what the town looks like creating a vision of small town perfection. The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; the flowers were blooming and the grass was richly green. (261). Jackson’s choice of details pulls us into the town in which unthinkable brutality is blindly taking place as a normal everyday occurrence under the false image of perfection. We are given specific details of time (about 10 AM), date (June 27th), and temperature (warm) allowing us to feel a part of the anticipated adventure that is about to unfold.
The good I see in Oxnard is that we are right by the beach, so that gives us beautiful comfortable weather almost everyday. We are also well known for our strawberries and all the fields we have here. Although there could be room for improvement In Oxnard, such as making it a little bit more cleaner and trying to eliminate the graffiti and the gangs. Nevertheless Oxnard is my home and I come to love it just the way it is.
The setting is one symbol used in the story. The lottery takes place in a normal town on a beautiful day. “The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with a fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blooming profusely and the grass was richly green” (140). This would make readers think something good
Well, we plant them for him but he enjoys watching us do this as it was something that he had taught us as young girls. I asked my dad about the garden recently and asked him to tell me why he always planted one each season. He said, “The garden had always brought me a sense of peace and tranquility, especially through difficult times. It helped keep my mind busy and focused. It also made me feel like I was doing something useful and constructive
The setting set forth by Shirley Jackson in the beginning creates a mood of calmness and serenity. “The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green” (1214). The setting allows the reader to believe that the town is relaxed and nothing bad could possibly happen. Despite the fact that the setting is introduced
“The Lottery Tradition” “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson begins in a small town with a description of a bright and serene setting in a small village. The morning the event took place was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green. It appears that the town is gathering for an important event. Jackson portrays a picture of innocent children playing together; who seem eager for the lottery to take place. As the story continues there is an awareness that the event taking place is not something positive that they look forward to.

In addition, the beauty of it is very rewarding. The rolling hills, green pastures, and lawns with all the many different types and colors of flowers are so beautiful. The air is fresh and smells of fresh cut grass and hay. On warm evenings, you can enjoy the scenery with a barbeque and bonfire with your family and neighbors,
