Sport as an activity refers to the participation in the various sporting activities such as football, swimming, basketball, etc. Sports tourism on the other hand refers to the travel from ones place of residence to a particular place in order to participate or observe sport activities or visit sport attractions. Sport activities and sport tourism are related in the sense that both are for purposes of leisure and enjoyment, as well as socialization among both passive and active participants. However, sport officials and participants are more focused on sports as an activity and forget that it can also be sustainable as sport tourism. The benefits gained in sport tourism are wider, bigger and better compared to engaging in sport as an activity only. Several factors hinder sport officials and participants from venturing into sport tourism. They do not get enough support and motivation from their administrators, who are also supposed to act like their role models. Their administrators should not put them down with words or actions, but instead support them and acknowledge their efforts. Most administrators feel intimidated and insecure about their positions; hence feel threatened in their positions knowing that they may be replaced earlier than their own expectation. They should therefore be encouraging and offer a helping hand if possible. Secondly, poor support from the government in terms of allocation of funds. The government does do not indulge in the sport tourism industry as much as they should. They do not create proper support mechanisms to encourage sport officials and participants to venture into sport tourism. Thirdly, most sport officials and participants do not have enough money to be sport tourists. They mostly depend on allowances given to the after games and tournaments or sports events, and the money received is used to cater for personal
