Split Brain Theory

The split brain theory is a very interesting thought to perceive. The fact that our brain’s two halves have different functions and personalities is hard to comprehend. However, Roger Sperry’s work in the field of split brain theory tells us that this information is true. According to the theory of left-brain or right-brain dominance, each side of the brain controls different types of thinking. Additionally, people are said to prefer one type of thinking over the other. For example, a person who is "left-brained" is often said to be more logical, analytical and objective, while a person who is "right-brained" is said to be more intuitive, thoughtful and subjective. While Sperry was able to observe people’s different personalities, he also could see which functions lied in which halves. When he cut the corpus collosum in an attempt to reduce seizures in patients, he noticed that they could not name objects directly in front of them. This led to years of experiments which gave Sperry a reliable theory on which functions lie in which hemispheres. The research done on the differences between the male and female brains is very intuitive and gives a lot of explanation to questions we ask every day and solves common problems among the sexes. First off, it is now a proven scientific fact that the male brain is larger than the females. However, even with its increased size, it does not necessarily mean we are smarter. Brain functions such as emotions, relationships, and language are fields in which women excel. However, men are stronger when it comes to stress, spatial recognition, and mathematics. Brains vary between genders, that much is clear, but I don’t think anyone will ever understand why we were made that
