Andrew Albenesius Prof Ravi - ISM 3/30/2011 Case: Timberjack Parts – Packaged Software Selection The RFP (request for proposal) process includes a series of steps to decide the pros and cons of possible software packages. This process will eventually allow Timberjack to select the best manufacturing software package to implement so that efficiencies will increase amongst their many international sites. The process is linear in that it encompassed these steps: go through vendor list, narrow down vendor list by critique of what they offer and its link to Timberjack’s needs, visit sites where various products are used, and use of implementation consulting for the final two vendors in order to select one who will fulfill their needs most closely. Timberjack is looking for a system which is designed so that there is little need for customization or modifications. The process was valuable in that it allowed the different cultures (US and Sweden) to claim their thoughts/views on all of the different vendors and which one they believed to be best for them.
