Speech on Animal Farm

Comrades we have been cheated out of our rights, don’t you see how our lives are as miserable as when Jones was around. Ask yourself, is my stomach full and is my life full of happiness? Look around, what do you see? Do you see fairness and equality? NO comrades, you see wretchedness, agony, suffering, a true nightmare. What happened to getting what you work for? I’ll tell you what happened; we were bamboozled, scammed of what was rightfully ours. Comrades, how many of you work longer days and still don’t have enough food to feel full? Comrades, Napoleon and Squealer have been lying to you; Squealer says that getting your ratio decreased is for a good cause and that it’s your way to help Animal Farm. In reality your ratio decrease means more food for the pigs and more profit for the farm. Is that what you want, having the pigs control everything and not having a say in what happens on the farm? NO comrades, it isn’t what we want; we want to be able to say what we want and to keep all the food that we produce. We have been misled comrades and we have to fix it. Now it is chance to put what we want over what the pigs say and tell us what to do. Rebel against the rebellion, that’s what we have to do, fight like we never have before; we have to stand up for what is fair and what isn’t fair. Comrades, I have another question for you, what happened to our commandments? Our commandments have been forgot comrades, and maybe that’s one of our problems here. The original commandments are no more; they have been renovated and tampered with to fit the pigs’ life-style. Our original commandments were: 1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy, 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend, 3. No animal shall wear clothes, 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed, 5. No animal shall drink alcohol, 6. No animal shall kill any other animal, and 7. All animals are equal.
