PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES - BA 2101, SECTION 011 FINAL ESSAY – 3/7/2013 INSTRUCTOR: Lindsay R. Teich Major in Success College students need more guidance in how to turn their talents, curiosity, and passions into successful careers. Most guidance offices and books on the subject will be inadequate for these purposes. The writing style is witty and engaging, and the examples are interesting and relevant. Repetition does occur in using the examples, but it's not too bad. While this book has some weaknesses in helping you select the direction you should go in, it is superb in helping you pursue your goals once they are set.
This competency would assist the new NP in continued improvement in their practice. If the new NP is open about their new role and acknowledges that time will be necessary to move to the expert phase then that is an example of taking leadership and initiative in this crucial area. Susan O. Valentine states in her work titled Nursing Leadership and the New Nurse: “Leadership does not rest merely with administrators and high-level managers, but also can be developed and implemented at the bedside. Nursing has a responsibility to encourage and support new members of the profession, as they become competent clinicians.” This applies to all types of nurses when they assume new roles in the profession. We all have to start somewhere and it helps our confidence and practice if we are nurtured in our translation of new knowledge into practice.

LSI Style Interpretations Learning ones strengths and weaknesses is the doorway to discovering how to become successful. The hard part comes in being open to the idea that you can become a better employee, leader & person. After getting past making the initial decision the adventure of becoming a better person can be a fun journey that will bring rewards for the rest of your life improving your personal and professional goals. After taking the Life Styles Inventory I quickly recognized this “test” was much better than the ordinary personality test. Being someone who is already ambitious about becoming a better person I took this assignment very seriously to see if the foundation that I have been building off from was a sturdy one.
In my personal life my strengths will help me tremendously. Adaptability could help me in future jobs or relationships. Communication and woo will help to have better relations with people who enter my life and to keep them there. I also like to always think positive. Thinking in positive ways not only makes me feel better about situations, but I know it also helps other people dealing with the situation too.
So it was easier for the reader to understand it coming from the characters them self then from a separate narrator. I think the author did well with picking the narration for this book. The writing style Steve Kluger used for this story was different from most; the author chose to set up the story mainly through diary entries directed toward the three student’s chosen confidents. For example T.C chose his mother who passed away, Augie chose the “diva of the week”, and Alejandra chose
Dr. Seuss is famous for writing children books that contain rhyming, imaginative characters, and off the wall story lines. Dr. Seuss’s “Oh The Places You’ll Go” is a prime example. When reading, “Oh The Places You’ll Go” from a child to an adolescent, your view of the book changes dramatically. The book merely means to a young child that life is full of excitement and to explore the many options that life may bring you. But as an adolescent, the book is trying to tell you that nothing comes easy in life and to choose your paths wisely.
Thank God- that I have been able to succeed in most of my goals. Despite the things that I went through in life, I thank Adversity for being in my life because it has made me prepare for future challenges. Also, it has helped me to recognize the importance in gaining my education to better my life and that of my daughter. I believe that though I am now a single mother, having my education will open doors for me and make me a good role model for my
Being a counselor will require great analytical, organizational, planning skills, intellectual skills, and creativity in the assessing and overall treatment of my future patients. This test also highlights the areas in which I may need to improve upon in order to be most effective as a counselor. I am confident that I would use this assessment tool with my clients as in my open their eyes to skills and/or attributes they may not have ever realized they possessed as well as possibly providing me with another way to reach my patient should the need arise. In developing a treatment plan for a child that has
A good role model described by Mark Thomas “should be someone hard working, creative, free thinking and moral.” (Thomas). Hermione fulfills all of these through her intense work ethic and avid desire to learn pushing her as well as her fellow classmates’ to question the system such as in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She stands up for her and her classmates educations to Dolores Umbridge by creating “Dumbledore’s Army”. In today’s society teenagers, and in particular teenage girls, focus too much on their look and the people's opinion of them whereas Hermione says “Books! And cleverness!
