The Professional Association of Healthcare Office Management(PAHCOM) offers certification as a Certified Medical Manager, and in order to be eligible you must have; three years experience working in a healthcare or medical office and earn 12 college credit hours in heath service or business management. The first career we will be looking at is Midwifery. If you have no previous experience working in healthcare, you will have to do a three or four year degree course that leads to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The training covers biological sciences, applied sociology, psychology and professional practice. Study hours tend to be split equally between theory at a university and hands-on clinical practice. During the practical part of the course you will have direct contact with women and their families in hospitals, community clinics and in their homes.
Most medical assistants work a 40 hour week. As for educational requirements although several medical assistants are hired with a high school diploma and receive on-the-job training, further education is available. Technical schools offer one-year medical assistance programs, and result in a certificate or diploma. There are three certifying bodies for medical assistants: the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT) and the National Health career Association (NHA). The AAMA awards the Certified Medical Assistant certification.
• Educational Requirements-The educational requirements for a licensed professional counselor in North Carolina consists of showing documented official transcripts from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Graduate course work must be in nine areas of study with 3semester hours or 5 quarter hours per course area of study.
