Soil Degradation Tanequia Coleman Everest University Online Sometimes we don’t understand how much harm we do to human nature. We have to use soil and many other natural resources to live. Soil erosion has become a huge problem in our nature, and we have to stop causing so many problems to it. There are three main factors that cause soil erosion, which are overgrazing, overcultivation, and deforestation. I will be discussing what they are and how we can correct them. First, Overgrazing occurs when plants are exposed to intensive grazing for long period of time, or without sufficient recovery periods. There are many things that cause this to happen, such as, overpopulation, livestock and poor agricultural submissions. In order for us to correct this problem we have to keep our eyes open for anything that could cause our crops to be damaged and overgrazed. Next, Overcultivation occurs when the soil is left exposed to the erosion. Weight from the tractor make the soil gets susceptible to the erosion. Plowing on a daily basis will make the soil loosen to improve infiltration. Growing crops daily helps the soil regenerate. Plowing also accelerates evaporation of water loss. Overcultivation can be corrected by no tilling agriculture. Last, Deforestation occurs when too many trees are cut down to be used for fuels and used for livestock. The deforestation causes extended droughts, overgrazing, erosions, and overcultivation. Droughts are very common on dry land climates. Deforestation can be corrected by not cutting down so many trees in open areas it better to plant more trees to prevent deforestation. Deforestation doesn’t affect the climate it serves as a habitat to provide shelter and water for the animals. With these three things causing our soil to degrade it’s harder on the farmers to crop their harvest and make things worse when the weather is already
