I also began grasp the symbols that were apparent all around me As I started middle school I quickly realized that it was a new environment, and that I was outsider. I had an etic perspective most of first year. However, I had a lot of friends and our social solidarity was strong. As middle school went on I began to gain popularity through social interactions and being exceptionally gifted in athletics, which apparently is apart of popular culture. I now found myself looking at middle school with an emic perspective because of all the people I knew, and that I no longer felt like an outsider, but rather an insider. With all of this new attention from others I found myself beginning to be very egocentric, and thought everything revolved around me.
Mr. Ross’ class made The Wave more powerful because everyone joined it and people thought it was the “right” thing to do. Both stories share a theme topic but have different messages. Fist Stick Knife Gun by Geoffrey Canada and “The Wave” by Morton Rhue both share the theme topic of influence. Teenagers can easily be persuaded into thinking something by the peers around them. “He who influences the thought of his times influences the times that follow” (Elbert Hubbard).
Although Cady began to realize she was no longer the same person, she didn’t mind so much, as her new persona came with power, status and respect. Being part of the plastics was “high school royalty”. The plastics were a clique, an exclusive group of people who share interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity. There were many different examples of cliques portrayed in the film; there were sport kids, nerdy kids, art freaks, Asians, and many others worth noting. But the defining high school clique was the plastics.
I learned how funny it is the way friends are made in high school; it’s based entirely on how one looks or who one grew up with. When I started seeing results of my diet, I started gaining more and more friends, mainly more girls. As sad as it is to hear, it’s the truth. Because of who I was, it will always stay a part of me. I will never forget my past because it was such a big part of my life.
It helped me overcome the struggles I faced in this new land, turning me into a realistic, social, and confident individual. By forcing myself to make friends in school, I became outgoing and independent, willing to interact with diverse classmates. As I did so, I realized that I had become friends with a lot of the people in my grade. In opening up, I found that the world was not nearly as scary or dreadful as I had feared. Instead, it was full of warmth and positive energy.
But I feel like all students turn to adderall thinking that it will only help them do better, so does that mean everyone’s behavior is facilitated because the majority of them do study better. So then what is it? Because according to social facilitation, it is because they are already good at studying, adderall just
Victoria Peterson Discourse community Ethnography paper Professor Dennis March 23, 2015 Have you ever been among people who are very much like you? That it does not matter what differences you have you all have a lot more in common. In this paper, I will prove that I entered the discourse community of high school band by acquiring content knowledge, establishing my credibility, and learning to sway other members of the community. Writing this paper gives me confidence because it shows that I already have experience joining a discourse community. It also gives you, my instructor, and you, my classmates, a chance to know more about me.

Kids will express these characteristics when they see an opportunity for a reward. Students know the value of money, and they also know what money can buy, therefore they wouldn’t mind attempting to learn in school. Though they may be focused on the incentives, the knowledge they are taught is still being exposed to them.
He said because he was a teacher he was able to hang out with his wife and kids more than he would if he was in another job. I have really enjoyed my time as an exploratory teacher and very grateful I had the opportunity. It has given me the chance to see what being a teacher is like from an outside perspective. I have witnessed teachers my whole life as a student but this was the first time that I really got to see what goes in everyday to being a teacher. I have learned that it’s not as easy as it looks and I also have learned that being a teacher is not always fun and games.
By the time we get to chapter 13, the students have begun to mix with each other; talking to people they would have not otherwise spoken to. The reason for this is because Maggie is like the glue to the high school. The popular kids want to hang out
