Social Psychologist Darcie Raymond Period 6 3/23/15 Mrs. Manas Nobody really knows what they want to be when they grow up, including me. One thing I do know is that I want to be able to have a social job. A job where I can study people and answer the questions people have about themselves. I also want to be able to share my research through teaching at Universities or colleges. Through research I have found that my ideal job with these qualities is a Psychologist. There are many different fields of Psychology, but the field that appeals to me is a Social Psychologist. These types of Psychologist examine a person or groups of people’s behavior using experimenting and researching.They also study how people deal with each other and how they deal with the world around them. Psychologists study kinds of religious, political, educational, and family groups. In addition, they may teach at Universities or work for private companies or work in the government. Lastly, a Psychologist also writes books and articles in professional journals. The working conditions for a Psychologist are based on the field they work in. Most Psychologist work about 40 hours per week, this depends on the urgency of their research. Psychologist with a private practice set their own hours, and many work part time as independent consultants. Psychologists in clinics, government, industry, or school work full time schedules during regular business hours. A certain extent of training and education is needed to work as a Psychologist. Most Psychologists have to have a doctorate, such as a Ph.D. or a Psy.D. Though, some positions are open to those with a master’s degree. Psychologists who want to go into private practice in the U.S must have a state issued certificate or license. In clinical, counseling, school, or health service settings, students usually complete a 1-year internship as part of
